I so love reading stuff by Alan Porter. I try to follow his lead when studying pedigrees. The guy is very sharp and his resume proves this.

Thanks Laura 22 I will do a ped search on Damascus. The male line of Damascus descends from Teddy 1913. Damascus has become an outcross for those stallions that have 9-13 crosses Ph. Big Brown has 2 crosses of Damascus.

If one of my foals had 17 crosses of Teddy and that foal's sire was a fashion bred, that would be good? Does an abundance of Teddy lead to unfashionbredness?

The breeding question is about monitor closely and not about his sire.

:?: :?: :?: :?

I don't know, why @Louis needs 222 pages to emphasise his wisdom of dove- and tb-breeding whereas @siegy can summarize his in-deep knowledge in just a self-explanating cypher without need of further commentary.

Most likely both are wrong - but tb-breeding is so great that even for this kind of people there is a little space somewhere in that boundless universe.

Ben: I am working on MC, & will post it later.

DJ: If u had 17 crosses of Teddy thru sire & dams, u would have a hi degree of unsoundness. The best way to breed a sound tb with 17 crosses of Teddy would use Inbreeding 4 X 5 or 5 X 5 to those NP sire line stallions: Chaucer Domino, Fair Play, Hyperion, Orby, Peter Pan, prince Rose, Questionnaire, Rock Sand, Sundridge, Tourbillon.

By Inbreeding to those Non-Teddy sire line stallions, a breeder would break up the effects of unsoundness thru Inbreeding to those Np sire line stallions that are not related to Teddy, thus it would add an outcross.

Hey Louis!

I haven't posted in awhile but after seeing Excessive Blend's (winner of the Sandy Blue at Del Mar) pedigree I had to throw in my 2 cents. She has a very intriguing pedigree. Her sire has one of the more obscure pedigrees around, but her dam is interesting as well. Excessive Blend's inbred 5 x 5 to Klairon, grandsire of Ahonoora. I don't recall seeing this anywhere else. And this filly has also won a stake on the Del Mar main track too. I see a big future for her. I believe she has 5 or 6 lines of Phalaris.

Curlin: Thanks for calling my attention to Sandy Blue, I will look at her pedigree. New Approach & Azeri were both out of Ahonoora mares, Ahonoora traces to the male line of Tourbillon, a most desired outcross for those Ph. Inbred individuals.

I'm sure you meant Excessive Blend, Louis.

That's the same line that produced Indian Ridge who produced nice horses like Daytona (whatever happened to him?), Linngari and Domedriver. Sadly, it looks like this line is dying a slow death.
