And now Kona Gold is gone....

Kona dies at age 15 at KHP. Something bad must have happened.

Well we all know freak accidents happen. Look at my precious boy. Perfectly fine one minute....
So sad, especially when they have had a hard campaign and deserved a nice retirement.

I hope to God its not the economy and these people are causing problems just to collect on the insurance money. But I have had a similar situation where three horses have died within in a couple of weeks of each other, completely random freak situations. Needless to say it was not fun. :(

No worries about the insurance. Kona Gold as a retired gelding would not have been insured, and no one in the world could afford insurance on 20+yo retired stallions. I'm certain there was nothing at all hinky going on with any of these deaths. But I did see an article the other day that many more deaths occur in horses in the fall. Maybe the change in weather brings on colic? Changes in water consumed?

I'm not trying to start rumors; just voicing my cynical subconscious. We'll never know anyway.

I'm not at fault here.. I think I was the last "tourist" to see Summer Squall, but I didnt do it to El Prado..and I only drove past the KY Horse Park.. but seriously, these boys (and girls) need to watch themselves when I'm in town..

Wind and falling leaves might make them more spooky or frisky.
