Is he overpriced still?

Well I didn't think he would be a success but never thought he'd do this bad, yeah 10k is too much. Three Chims and Adena's 2010 stud fees have underwhelmed me. Of the big Ky. farms Lanes End is the only one that has made any sense.

I still think Smarty is WAY overpriced. Dropping him to $5,000 would make much more sense.

I see him becoming a regional stallion soon or will be shipped overseas unless there is a stipulation regarding that possibility.

In Smarty's case, I think there would be an uproar from the public at any attempt to ship him overseas, he still has a large fan base. However we just lost Azeri and Ginger Punch so I suppose it isn't impossible.

I seem to remember the owners having a clause in place to prevent him from being moved overseas...of course money does talk so who knows.

Much better price point for him and he can get a useful runner.

Any insight now as to what bloodlines are crossing best with him?

An uproar from the public? I doubt that a public outcry would have any influence at all on what they decide to do with him. And really, why should it? People can still send him fan letters if he goes to Japan!

I think any domestic farm that eventually stands him (assuming, of course, that he's moved one day from Three Chimneys) will have to bear the burden of legions of Smarty fans who want to "visit" him. I know one local farm that stood a fairly popular horse (for a couple of years) and its owner hated the fact that people would drop in unannounced, wanting to see him and take pictures, etc. Unless a farm is willing to use some of its manpower for such diversions (Three Chimneys has to be considered extremely generous with their time devoted to such tours, as are many of the big Kentucky stallion farms) the fans can be a real pain in the butt.

Iirc, there is a stipulation that he will not go overseas. It wouldn't surprise me if he ended up in Pennsylvania.

Smarty was offered to at least two PA farms earlier this year - no takers.

They ought to threatened Smarty with sending him to California, only right now I'm not sure he could compete here for a 5k stud fee. :shock:

Plus it's a foreign country.
