Smoked Gold

Postby Derby Lyn » Thu Nov 12, 2009 4:58 pm

Smoked Gold will continue with his training, and he will stand to a very limited amount of thoroughbred mares in 2010. We will be focusing on showing all the boys next year, and I do not want to interrupt his training schedule too much with breeding. $1000 LFG, special considerations to proven mares (mares with race or show record, or stakes producers).

"Gunner" is almost at the 15.3h mark, very fancy trot and well balanced. He is shown in the video with the other colts. He is very trainable himself, and hopefully passes this along to his foals. He has 2 foals on the ground which are both very correct, one being a bay sabino colt and the other a perlino colt. His bay colt seems to be larger, so I am not sure at this time if he will add height. He is probably better suited for taller mares, but seems to add a good shoulder and neck on his foals, along with a desireable trot.

another video is available on youtube, but it is still in the processing mode. Located in south eastern Michigan.

Since Wallaceburg, Ontario is very close to the Michigan border, I suspect that Smoked Gold is being trained/standing at stud there. He probably has a better chance of attracting TB mares in Ontario than in Michigan, since Ontario is the "heart" of Canada's TB industry and Ontario's economy is in much better shape than Michigan's right now.

As it states above, Smoked Gold is located in Michigan. He was in Ontario for a while but since spring '09 he has been back here. I have asked them to remove the ad but they haven't, since those pictures are absolutely terrible of him! I guess they are just going to let the ads run out. So, to clear up any confusion, Smoked Gold is a US resident and it will stay that way.
Being in Michigan he has attracted a few outside mares this year just by word of mouth.
