Timing seems like a move to enhance her appeal as HOY. Are they just going to change these stakes names every 20 years or so to honor the most current great? In a fantasy match-up between Z and Ladys Secret at 1 1/8th on dirt, I'm taking Lady's Secret all day long. When she was on she was on!

I hate this renaming of stakes and erasing our racing history in so doing. Ugh!

Think renaming it to Zenyatta Stakes strikes a popular chord..the race she won twice but Lady's Secret never.

Maybe the Beldame Stakes should give to Lady's Secret, which was in her turn to win twice.

The nice thing about having races named after old time greats is they're remembered, there is no need right now to name a race after Z or RA for that matter because it's safe to say they will be remembered for the next 40-50 years at least. I think it's disrepectful to change names on all these races , plus I'm starting to have a hard time keeping it all straight.

th thing about it that gets me is that socal has a race for every freaking suburb in the area. just take one of those!

man, lady's secret? seriously?

not as bad as the sir barton (triple crown winner) being renamed the barbaro, but still bad. very bad.

there has to be a balance with remembering history and sparking new interest.

If every great must show up in a Stakes, soon there wont be enough to go around...you cant keep expanding G1
on cards..you will cheapen things outright..and if you put a great on a G2 it is a disrespect.

Doubt people forget them just bcos their names are taken out. The notion to feature them somewhere is good
but races are not the only such place though.
