Formal Dinner to Pa.?
He has turned up on the Thoro. Times Pennsylvania state earnings listing. Seems a shame ... he's 21 now, winters are much colder in Pa. than Florida.
pa
Summers are as miserable in PA as anywhere I have lived, plus no off the water breezes and nowhere to cool off. The bugs are as bad as anywhere I have lived as well, if there are horses, there are bugs
In fact, in Newport News VA and Suffolk VA, the horseflies, yellowflies, and other weird flies were the worst on my horses than anywhere I have ever lived, including, FL, PA, TN, GA etc. I dont particularly care for TN, where I live now, but the weather and bugs have been the mildest on my animals. The winters are definitley longer and colder in PA, I was not happy
but the summers and bugs are not what they are cracked up to be, just because its not the deep south, dont believe everything you here about the weather up north
I sent a co-worker to Erie to do a few trainings for my customers & he dubbed it, "Eerie Erie" Ironically, because the people were friendly, made eye-contact on the street, and spoke to strangers . . . Apparently, not his thing.
He's now a former co-worker. Apparently couldn't thrive in a friendly, team environment . . .
Sorry. Helped hijack the "Is Formal Dinner Coming to PA" thread.
Anyone find out yet whether he'll be standing here in 2010?

We had tons of snow....last year 144 inches. Thank GOD I spent the winter in Folsom, La so I didn't have to shovel it. In '99 the alley in our 1 year old barn fell in after 19 straight days of snow. We had over 4 feet on the roof. We were so blessed that none of our horses were injured. In all, 42 barns in the county had collapsed roofs or total building collapse all within 3 days of each other. Then there are other winters that you get hardly any snow at all. You just never know.
the people at Presque Isle are extremely friendly. They will look you in the eye and say "hello, hows it going?" or wish you luck on your way up the lane to the paddock. KB, would love to know who your assistant was...I've worked in the test barn thru out. Most likely knew the person.

I just found out where Formal Dinner will stand - Rich Miller's Mountain Springs Farm in Shartlesville, Pa. for $2,500.
I didn't think this thread was hijacked! I was enjoying reading about Erie! When Presque Isle first opened, I went out to Erie, my first trip, and I was more fascinated with Lake Erie, which I had never seen, than the racetrack. It was kind of a lonely feeling, though, when I came to a red light near an underpass and there were two signs: One said "Buffalo" with an arrow pointing north, and the other said "Cleveland" and another arrow pointing south. A real crossroads of America, that's for sure. And by the way, I was floored when I saw Lake Erie ... I imagined something much, much smaller!

Yes, I did ... the State Park is where I spent the majority of my time while in Erie. Very beautiful place, I was there in September, and just sat on a bench looking at the lake in utter amazement. I heard it was big, but brother, until you see it yourself, words couldn't adequately describe it. Right before I got on the plane to come home I spent an hour lakeside.
