They've had some Phipps colts with as much talent as this boy in the last few years with pedigrees just as good that they've let go to other farms, even another Pulpit son in Sightseeing.
Not sure why they jumped on this boy to keep unless they couldn't find anyone who wanted him. Pulpit son and Sky Mesa cross or not this family, while amazing, really has been disappointing in getting stallions.
Parading to Claiborne

Wonder if they plan on putting him to Seeking the Gold mares? I imagine they've a few of those around.

I hear he looks good but he'd have to throw some of the best looking yearlings ever to become commercially viable, especially if the market doesn't improve a whole lot.
I'm sure I won't be the only one who will be wary of the dam-line, as well. Personal Ensign had multiple G1 winners go to stud who turned out to be big disappointments.
Although her brother, Personal Flag, was a useful regional stallion.

th reason I say that is becuase at that price, you don't have to bring 100k yearlings to make a profit.
he looks good, the family while not a great stallion producing family is still one of the better families out there, you can't deny that, and he had talent.

I don't thinkt hat's out the question. It's not like parading is a backyard maiden stallion with no talent or family. parading was a VERY good horse from a VERY good family and is VERY good looking.
I think his median will be higher than 20k
IMHO the 3.5k is more if an indication of the current market, with breeders looking for great value to justify breeding, than his value at stud.
any other year, heck, last year IMHO parading is a 10k stud.
he won a grade 2, he's won over half a million at the track and his grand dam and great grand dam are both eclipse award winners, by a leading sire no less.
cowboy cal has less cridentials than that and he's standing for more than twice this amount $7,500

You won't find a bigger Personal Ensign fan than me but this is the one thing that scares me.
I don't think Parading is like PE's sons, in that he was doing very well as a two year old until he got hurt. He fractured a hind leg if I remember correctly. I don't remember any of PE's sons being good two year olds. What might also work in his favor is that he possesses real speed and could run from the front end or come from off the pace. He was a stakes quality turf horse, but broke his maiden on dirt at Saratoga, and he won a stakes on synthetic so he was versatile. PE's sons have no line or inbreeding up close, so they were all outcrosses. Parading has Secretariat duplicated 4x4, Raise A Native 4x5 and Buckpasser 5x5, which should help him at stud. I really believe that he has more possitives to him than negatives.

I'm not sure what "doing very well at 2" means to you, but did he even start at 2? Wasn't he also unplaced as a 3 year old?
All of Personal Ensign's sons were good winners at 2. And they all had some speed to them, especially Our Emblem, who after an abbreviated 3 year old year, came back to be very competitive in G1 mile type races.
Following her broodmare career very close, I've seen nothing from Parading that suggests he has more natural speed than a few of her sons.
I also wouldn't attribute their demise at stud to being outcrosses. They were Mr. P line horses out of a Damascus line mare backed up by Hoist the Flag. They genetically hooked large portions of the broodmare population. It wasn't as if they had foreign lines throughout.
If Parading can pass along the genes from his sire and broodmare sire than he certainly has a chance. But if he ends up being like the rest of his family, it's going to be a tough ride for him.
I do hope he succeeds though. I love that dam line. I'm just not very optimistic he's going to be the one to break through. Good luck to anyone breeding to him though. I hear he looks lovely.
