First Secretary really stamped his foals but he was bred primarily for race prospects and that might not have been the best idea since App races are mostly at very short distances 300-450 yards (esp back then). He should have been used more as a sport sire and he would have been much more successful.

erhrdt3,

Take note that WILLIES NEON MOON is a 21st century gray-turned-white appaloosa tail male descendant of I Love Willie (the racing appaloosa horse just shown above!)

Jorge, the pedigree on Count Willie is incorrect.
The name of his brood mare sire is Darby Creek Road. The pedigree shown says Darby Creek, leaving the last word of his name off. The age shown is correct, the name of the dam is correct, someone was simply too lazy to write it all out. Darby Creek Road was a very successful race horse, a major stakes winner. He competed in the Kentucky Derby as one of the favorites, against Foolish Pleasure, the horse that raced against Ruffian in the match race she broke down in.

Darby Creek is a 1972 horse by Ribot, Darby Creek Road is a 1975 horse by Roberto. It looks that the pedigree in the ABDB is correct.
