That's pretty harsh spacely, and out of line on this post after someone's stallion dies. Do you have any tact what so ever? If not, keep it at the Chronicle, folks here aren't like that, and if they are, they should with hold commenting.

My condolences to his connections. How sad to lose a horse in his prime. :(

Reedhill, it's the truth. However, I edited my post but am leaving the picture in response to Jorge's post.

Well I don't think it's an issue of her stallions doing any wrong, they are innocent. Many other variables do have to come into play and maybe that's what your speakiing of.

As breeders we all do programs very differently that is for sure. But if it weren't for me seeing Painted Desert's horses and Norsire's years ago, I would not have been so inspired to try our hand at creating some pretty special TB's.

I too hope he was not in much pain with something that *big* inside him. <RIP>

Not defending but I could find pictures of most all stallions offspring where they look less than sporthorse like. I am not a fan of Norsires breeding at all, but many yearlings who are spooked and/or put their head way up in the air are going to look gangly at best. Get the horse to relax and stretch the neck down and out, then grow into it's yak like body (that many young horses have) it could be a much different picture. I am just sayin... And again I am not a fan of Norsires breeding (inbreeding) and have no connection to the filly in this picture.

I just can't imagine not seeing symptoms of something like that LONG before it got that big. How sad.

Well, Lost in The Fog ran (and won) with a large cancerous tumor in his abdomen. Cant recall details off top of my head regarding size but my memory seems to recall that it was pretty damn large.

I forgot to say RIP Billionair. Its always so sad to lose one.

And just another comment - I have not paid close attention to Norsire's breeding program but I have NO PROBLEM with a breeder culling a foal that does not reach some sort of standard. Not every foal of every stallion is going to be a genetic goldmine, color of the month or otherwise. I would have an issue with someone who decided every single colt had stallion potential and every filly was worth breeding on. When I read that a breeder gelded a foal my first thought is "Thats a responsible breeder" not "OMG whats wrong with THAT particular one."

Again, I have no dog in this fight, but I DO like to see breeders being somewhat picky about their stock, esp when it comes to gelding and culling when necessary.
