3rd at Laurel on the 15th PQ rivalry

Postby AscotStud » Sat Feb 13, 2010 8:48 pm

Laurierace I see you have the outside and I have the rail in the 3rd on Monday. I don't think it's too often PQers haved faced each other in a race. Best of luck. I'll offer a friendly wager...whoever finishes ahead of the other buys a beer at Tycoons.

Hey Ascot you have no chance ! I was stabled next to Laurie years ago and she is no fool. I have not seen the overnight but I hope you finish one-two and come back sound. Did you see Kilmoganny and Galaxy go at it over 2 miles at Mnr ? . Amazon Run is coming back from a break and I just wish he had the desire of those two. Best Wishes , Wilf.

Thanks Wilf, I'll take 1-2 hopefully 1 though. I think the blinkers coming back off should do the trick this time, he should have won his last 2 outs. My guy has been training really well.

I did see the race it was a good one. I'm gearing the horse I'm running tomorrow up for a date in the Tour de Fort, I really think he could cruise along forever. He does have an issue though that could hamper how far he goes, but we'll see, that's a long time from now.

Wow that was bad!!! That's what I get for telling Wilf he's been training well & for betting one of horses for the first time in 3 or 4 years. The main thing is that he came out of it like he galloped, if there was a race for him this weekend I would put him back in. But I don't think they will have any surface still and the rock hard surface they have now doesn't suit this big boy.

I'm sorry, I just saw this thread. Next time somebody smack me on the head or something if I don't respond. This month is sort of a blur with foal watch but I am guessing that is the race I scratched.
Wilf, thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately I think my horse just plain sucks and no amount of skill on my part is going to change that. He is most likely going to break the streak of three generations of 100% multiple winners which ticks me off. He was bred to be the best of them but instead turned out to be the worst. I am going to give him a couple more tries and if nothing changes he is going to live with my good friend as a kids horse. Unfortunately for me he is perfect for that job!

Laurie, I saw you were back in the 1 1/8th yesterday, but they cancelled. I wheeled mine back and and ran 2nd at ChuckTown. This guy just doesn't want to win. The race we were in has produced 2 winners (both on todays card) and 2 2nds. Not bad for a bad bunch of bottom maidens. Good luck next time you run. I'm aiming March 13th back at Laurel so they don't lock him out of Bowie for running at CT 2 times in a row.

I haven't entered him in any of those races on purpose including the one on Saturday. I just keep him fit and sit around and wait for the racing office to beg me to run. If he can't make any money at least he can make me some brownie points. Heck yesterday they called at 5 and kept saying "you want stalls, how many stalls so you want?" I told them I didn't need any stalls as I am blessed with my own training center but I would give them a 7 only if that would make them happy. Of course when the overnight came out there were 8 in there but who is counting?!

Funny, one of my roomates keeps getting hustled with his filly even though he says he won't let them do it again. They tried to get me into the $16k that went today, but I didn't think it was prudent to run a horse who just ran 2nd at ChuckTown for $5k in that spot. So I'll run on the 13th so they let him back in the Bowie gates.
