She runs the same every time! Last out of the gate- at least 10 lengths behind in the backstretch. Almost always looks hopelessly beaten, then lays out a courageous gritty fight to the finish to win by just enough- mare HAS to know where that finish line is!

Hi Arch,
No doubt about it she has built in GPS when it comes to the finish line:>) To see both these super horses win this weekend is great for racing and now the rivalry will gain momentum once again. Can't wait to see where they go next.
I posted this on the Rachel thread a while back, but it's worth seeing here as well....they are both amazing in their own way.....you have to stick with the first part of this video, it lasts only a few seconds. TJ

That youtube is poor. It is a rip off of two other videos and combined.

Zenyatta worked impressively this AM at Hollywood Park over the fast all weather track. She went 3/4's in company in 1:12.40 handily in preparation for the August 7th Clement Hirsch Stakes at Del Mar. TJ

I really don't understand why they aren't aiming for the Pacific Classic rather than the Hirsch.

The purse for the Clement Hirsch is $300,000. The purse for the Pacific Classic is $1,000,000. The payout for second place in the Pac Classic is $20,000 more than the payout for first in the Hirsch.

?????

For a horse of this calibre, who very handily thrashed everybody who showed up at the BC classic last year and has handily thrashed everybody who showed up this year, I don't understand going for the silver when the gold is right there.

Given the concerns about the Del Mar track, I wouldn't be surprised if her connections skip the meet altogether.
