WOW....I am so  disscombooberated

Wild by Design, and that mare you mentioned DOS is what I'm looking for....

I LOVE the "sabino" traits....nothing toooo wild....I know I can't pick what color or how the pattern will turn out....The DW scares me too....

TN, KY, NV, and OR are seeming closer to me..... NOW...WOW...

Where is my penny jar????

HH

HH: I have been to Dalene's in person, several times (and now my hubby won't let me go with the trailer anymore  ) Painting Freedom is very nice. Allamystique is gorgeous, too, which is why I now own Airdrie Apache and Ms. Dubious. Of course, so are all the others mentioned here. Decisions, decisions, decisions. I am glad I don't have your decision to make. It is going to be a tough one.

Penny jar? I think I lost mine. Vets have wiped me out! Ah, well, to start again :D

I would back Painting Freedom in a HEARTBEAT. But yeah, that's a long way.

So now to decide, is chrome or black more important?

I hate to say it...but CHROME...

...I was thinking that Phantom was Black and Sabino...so I'd get a great chance of repeating their look with the Black one...and then just take a gamble on the buckskin one..

The buckskin has TONS OF WHITE IN her family....she is on the lesser side of Sabino....NO belly spot....but her momma has TONS of white as you know...and her (PT'S) dad was all over the place...

The black one is a fluke

I wonder....DOES it LOSE it's effect as the generations go on???? I was hoping that FF would have thrown more white...I'm NOT CUTTING Redecorated down... :) She's lovely... I'm just talking chrome here....not ability or conformation.....LG has only 3 stockings and a decent blaze and white lip...

IF that is the CASE I need to kick it up a notch then...

Jorge do you have any info on that?????

HH :)

I'm glad you said chrome. It's much easier to find chrome than black.

Haha, this is where you need to start getting into genetics a bit more. It's a bit random, but not quite as random as you're thinking.

Your girl (the "buckskin") isn't sabino at all. She's dominant white. She will pass her white 50% of the time. Her white could be anywhere from what she is to full white. More often she'll look like herself or Faux Finish. Somewhere in there.

TRUE sabino can indeed lessen with generations if it's not carefully bred (not continuing to breed the lesser expressions). Dominant white can not IMO. It is what it is and you get chrome or you don't (50-50 shot).

Redecorated simply got the flip 50%. She got a black base, which lessened her chrome, she got a suppressor from dad, mom or maybe even BOTH, and she didn't get mom's dominant white. She was bound to have very little white. The VERY SAME mating next time could result in an EASILY 50%+ white foal. It's just luck of the draw. Look how much white Remember My Name has and how little Blonde in a Motel has. 50-50 shot (not counting the crossover, just showing the extremes of expression).

So, it wouldn't hurt to breed Chai (or whatever her barn name is) to one with a fair bit of chrome, but you could just as easily end up with a ton of white from a solid or a solid from a stallion with a ton of white. If it were me, if you're on a budget at all, I would not breed her to any stallion believe to have dominant white himself. That could result in a non viable homozygote (it's believe to be a very early pregnancy loss) and you might have to breed her back. But a true sabino stallion would be great.

For the black mare, have at it. Painting Freedom or any of the other loud dominant whites would you give the most chance for white. Pick something as loud as possible and ask me first if he's carrying a suppressor.

Allamystique is I guess DW...........but he is not homozygus for white.
He has thrown solid bays to solid white, and everything in the middle.

MATRICULE:

What a pleasant surprise to see the name of SWAPS so relatively close in this pedigree. He looks like a conservatively marked equine but since he is carrying SWAPS, its auspicious. Interesting alternative.

He was RFF's best mover...IN MY OPINION....

He is nice...but Chestnut  He is a nice example of Rabicano too...which is a neat trait...
