Shergar, make up an excuse to go down there, you will not be disappointed, It's a fascinating country with wonderful people and great horses. Palermo Racetrack in Buenos Aires is a sandy dirt surface and San Ysidro on the outskirts of town has turf and dirt from memory .Incredible steak sandwiches and food tastes great without all the additives, you only live once.

Well Oliver , their seasons are obviously opposite and I went there in May , a long time ago , fall time and it was beautiful. Shergar I must confess that I got a freebie as I went down on a cargo plane with a Stallion and came back three weeks later with 3 horses destined for the track. Flying into Manaus over the Amazon jungle in Brazil was spectacular. I reckon that airfares now are pretty reasonable with all the competition ; flying to Australia is half the price that it was 20 years ago if that is any guideline. Watching the Argie horses train is an eye-opener in itself.

Sounds like a great idea. However, right now I so poor I can't even pay attention.
Kimberly Mine, thanks for the info. the pq stakes database does state the surface of each race, but I don't have total faith in it.
Regards,
Shergar
November is springtime, rather like May in the NH. Gorgeous, temperate, the jacaranda trees start blooming so all of Buenos Aires is carpeted in purple blossoms that smell good.....
December through February is hot hot hot through the north.
March is good for leaf peeping in Tierra del Fuego.
