Found a trainer for Aurumba :)

Postby Truly » Sun Aug 29, 2010 4:35 pm

It's been my dream to send my boy racing and I've finally got the ball rolling :)

Aurumba will be off for pre-training in mid October to Pat Phelan at Ermyn Lodge Stud in Epsom (home of the English Derby)

I went last Saturday to visit and I'm happy to let him go to such a lovely yard and good people.....I know he'll be well looked after :)

All the horses were happy and chilled :)...in their stables and going to, on, and from the gallops.

We drove up to watch Pat's string on the gallops on Epsom racecourse...which made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up!

As you can tell I'm really excited :)

I hope he'll get to race..time will tell if he is suited to it.

If he doesn't make a racehorse it's not a problem but at least he'll have the chance :)

He'll come home whatever the outcome :)

I will definitely post tons of pics when he gets there!

I earnestly congratulate you most on that decision and wish you all the Best. Beautiful horse and lets hope for the better. Regardless of the initial race outcome its great news and speaks tons of exposure on the subject ---particularly in England.

May he bring much notice, surely turn many heads, and say "HELLO" to racing for the whole world to see! Very best of luck, and prayers he stays healthy! Keep us informed.

Truly, that is great! So the first Alchemist baby has entered the track. Did you ever see that the fifth dam on The Alchemist's pedigree is the full sister to one of the biggest race horses, Ribot? May your boy run well and keep us updated please!

Another question: have you been to the ZfDP grading with Ambassador for the pre assessment?

Thanks so much everyone :)..I really appreciate your support.

It's funny how things turnout :)...I do think there is something in fate.

I had heard of the trainer before I chose but had been reseaching other trainers and was thinking of sending him to John Hills who trained his dam Samba Beat.

Anyway I so happened to visit Ascot bloodstock sales last November (with no intention of buying but just to see what was about).....I saw two Darley blacktype broodmares who were perfect for Electrum, both infoal to Byron (£4000 stud fee !) and the first was sold for just £3000 and the second didn't get a bid and I thought I may have enough on my credit card?..so I bid and then Pat Phelan bid and I bid a couple of more times and realised it was pointless bidding against someone who had the funds to keep bidding lol..she went for just £1000 !
After a couple of weeks I phoned him and asked if he'd sell the mare after she foaled but he decided to keep her and has put her in foal to 'My Boy Charlie' at the National Stud.

I asked him earlier this year about his training fee's etc. and have been following his form..he had 5 winners this month and it's a small yard!

So I think it was fate I went to Ascot that day and got in touch with Pat :)

It is a beautiful place but it was the way the horses were cared for that made my mind up :)

Just adding another thing that made me smile..I looked out the office window when his string returned from the gallops and the lads and lasses all got off their horses and patted them and the first girl was hanging round her horses neck giving him a hug :)
I didn't want him going to a big yard where he was just another number.

Gwen...I will of course keep you updated on the boys :)
I didn't bothter to take Bassy for a pre assessment with the ZfDp...it's expensive and I'd rather spend the money on his proper grading next year :)
I have to be really careful with my money...my treat this month was to buy 2 dozen socks for Winter from ebay lol
I have client want livery so I can use Crinkles (Aurumba) stable to help pay his training fees.
I've had it hard the last couple of years with empty stables because of the credit crunch but this month am all full up with a waiting list :)

Heather..we can hold eachothers hands lol..I'm excited for you too!
I asked him if I could ride him out sometimes and he said 'YES' :)
So I may get to ride my own racehorse on the gallops again...it's nearly 30 years since I rode on the gallops but still 8stone and fit(ish lol)..just got loads of wrinkles now lol
Why did you change trainers ?..you can PM me if you want.

Apropos the topic, I have seen in life, time after time, that when you are searching for something very elusive that you think is too difficult to come across, you end up finding it right beside you. Its like a way that life or the Universe has to tell you that time, distance, and circumstances are no problems at all. That everything seems to be governed by an invisible Being and that the most important thing is to connect to that Being. Don't want to get philosophical here but I am convinced it is true.
All the Best,

Dont mean to hijack the thread but Jorge thats so true,a tiny story I searched for a stallion to use on my mare back in 2005 and found ricco he was not for sale when we saw him 1 month later he was and I spent all my money on him everything he told my husband and I we had to buy him sounds stupid, then 6 months later we lost a business with that we lost our home car lifestyle, our stallion bought our Electricity, our gas boiler, our computers cameras tv, everything we are today is down to him it was meant to be in return he has the life he wants.
again sorry to hijack there is something telling me I have to race our boy and its so strong i cant ignore it!
Oh Truly it will be very exciting thats going to be too people shouting so loud in the UK north and south! on the finish line.

Thanks Jorge :)

It's funny because I'm not that superstitious and think life is mostly what you make it. I also generally don't take chances lol

But definitely there is something in fate...just had too many instances that have fallen into place which I can't explain :)

Angrove no wonder Ricco is soooo special to you :)..that brought a tear to my eye.
