I didn't realise Elvis (Elvstroem) in the Duty Free had such a high score.

He has drawn the widest barrier, spent 17 hours on a plane to get there and reportedly had the thumps after his last run over here.

But here's hoping anyway.

Last years DWC was a diaster, the fans had no idea where the finish line was.

If the announcer would tell the fans how far the finish line is from where the TB are, would be a positive. If they posted the names of the 1st. 2nd. and 3rd. TB on the bottom of the screen as the race is being run, the fans would benefit.

If you ever watch a live race at the racetrack, with the fans hooting for their TB, it is a mystery after the race is run. As most all the fans dont know who won the race.

"Godolphin Racing Manager Simon Crisford reported on Friday morning that even though Dubai World Cup (Gr.I) hopeful Grand Hombre’s bruised foot condition has improved, the decision was made to scratch the five-year-old gelding.

“He’s much better, we just decided it wouldn’t be the right thing to run,” Crisford said.

Grand Hombre suffered the bruise on Tuesday during a workout. A pulse was detected in his right front foot and Crisford said a day later that he was only “50-50” to compete in the World Cup.

His withdrawal leaves Godolphin without a starter in the world’s richest race, the US$6,000,000 Dubai World Cup (Gr.I), sponsored by Emirates Airline. The Maktoum family, which owns the Godolphin runners, has won five of the first nine runnings of the Dubai World Cup, with Godolphin entries Moon Ballad, Street Cry, and Dubai Millennium winning in 2003, ’02, and ’00. Almutawakel won in the silks of Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid al Maktoum in 1999 and Singspiel carried Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum’s colours to victory in 1997.

Crisford said Grand Hombre probably will be sent to compete in the United States later this year. The son of Grand Slam won his first four career starts in the U.S., including the 2003 Pennsylvania Derby (G3), before being acquired by Godolphin. He finished fourth in last year’s Dubai World Cup and third in his only race of 2005, the Maktoum Challenge Round III (Gr.II) on Super Saturday on March 5th at Nad al Sheba during the Dubai International Racing Carnival."

Roses in May victory in the DWC makes Ghostzapper HOY choice a very wise decision.

If Bobby Frankel was a type of trainer that caught the DWC fever, and rushed Ghostzapper in training to make the DWC, we may seen the last of Ghostzapper. As you cant dance every dance, as the late Hall of Fame trainer Charlie Whitingham used to say.

Ghostzapper will have plenty of time to defend his BC Classic victory, and repeat in 05. Congrats to Bobby Frankel as patience is the name of the game.

George

You should be proud of yourself after Elvstroem's win.

Some were doubting the ability of our horses in these overseas races.

Class did surpass in this case. :)

Aided by a very good jockey.

Devil His Due the sire of Roses in May is line-bred 5X5 to Mahmoud (Swynford) sire line on SS.

Devil His Due is line-bred 5X5 to Balladier (Peter Pan) sire line on DS.

These two sire line are an outcross from each other. Devil His Due made 41 lifetime starts, and passed on his soundness to his offspring.

Dynaformer sire of Dynever runner up in the DWC is line-bred 5X5 to Nearco (Phalaris) sire line on the SS.

Dynaformer is line-bred 5X5 to Blue Larkspur (Peter Pan) sire line on the SS.

Dynaformer is line-bred 5X5 to Hyperion (Gainsborough) sire line on his DS.

Dynaformer progeny average starts lifetime is 19.

The 3 line-bred sire lines that produced Dynaformer were an outcross from each other, as can be seen in his progeny's average starts above.

Both Devil His Due and Dynaformer are line-bred to the same breeding patterns, that being a line-bred sire lines that are an outcross from one another. These types of matings produce hybrid vigor and soundness.
