Take Control
Will he ever race again? I see no workouts the last 60 days again.

i gotta believe that Z is the best i have seen in decades at the least....that being said....your idea of a match between AZERI and ZENYATTA brought a huge smile to my face as i pictured the two in a race...

Per his page on this site:
RNA'd for $7.7mil., 2008 Keeneland September yearling sale.
Sold for $1.9 million, 2009 Keeneland sale of 2-year-olds in training.
Won debut race at Santa Anita, December 30, 2009, then was sidelined until June of 2012.
2 Starts: 2 - 0 - 0, $37,400
I've followed him because of his breeding, but up until now this lad has not exactly been the model of a sound, superior runner, Louis. Maybe he looks robust because he's an uncut five year old?

What a complicated and perplexing issue this topic of a match!
When we are exposed to these great horse we
know them right in the middle of their racing struggles
racing strategies and racing rivalries. But then when they become
greater than reality we want to isolate them into a match race.
I think a match race is a good idea depending on the racing
style of each contender. If we were to compare, lets say,
(hypothetically) Holy Bull versus Lure, a match race makes sense because both were scintillating speedsters. But with horses like
Zenyatta and Rachel Alexandra their isolation from other runners breaks
the strategy needed to callibrate which horse is the best.
When Dr Fager, Damascus and Buckpasser ran against each other, no match was planned, just normal racing conditions and Dr. Fager demonstrated by far that he was the more superior one.
Regarding Azeri, she may have had, lets say, a fair chance of beating Zenyatta in a match race, but no so, I guess, in a regular race.
As per Take Control...wow what a nice horse. He may well be retired
and go directly to the breeding farm without hesitation. He deserves
much more opportunities than a multi-million dollar failure I know who is producing some foals.

take control is /was valenzari the one that RNA'ed for something like 7.7 million or something stupid like that so yeah he was a sales topper
and honestly, I think the filly by ghostzpper that broke her maiden (take control's half sister) on derby day this year is going to be better then him when it's said and done. she can be special.
i have not had a chance to watch it yet. was it a nice win? does he look like a stakes horse?
