Laskeek Bay, a BC bred. Kinda scary IMO

I've seen worse
That's tame compared to some of the Arabian and Welsh pony peds I've seen.

Okay. So I found a stud in Alberta with some things I was looking for in a pedigree for one of my mares. I out in a hypo mating, and couldn't figure out what was wrong. Check out "hypo meka" abd tell me if this is too close

Hallo,
here in Germany breeders don't shy away complety from close inbreeding. Have a look at Lando , he is 3x3 Literat/Liberty Fs/FB and what I found must intriguing the inbreeding is exact at the same position as in Kalamoun.
Here are some other examples of inbreeding with resultesed in Good runners and even Champion Sires: Orsini (by Ticino), Masetto (by Olymp), Mangon (Gundomar) and Gradivo(by Ladro), 4times inbred in the
4th gen to Festa!
A very uncommon pattern for nowadays standards is the Mare Goldhenne (by Birkhahn), she is 1x2 to 3/4 brothers Birkhahn/Bürgermeister. She is ancestress of Gonlargo, Gonbardo, Goonda etc. and most of her descents have won Graded or Listed events! Btw; her name would be translated into English Golden Hen(!), in her case you could simply say, Nomen est Omen.
Another example is Sayonara; 2 x 4 Alchimist + his close relative Aditi, the dam of Slip Anchor (by Shirley Heigths).
regards, Bettina

Hi Reviewer,
Are you related to Ruffian?
Never mind, the main point of this post is to point out that another GIW besides Skimming has the same "Northern Dancer son over another Northern Dancer son" Pattern: Namely Italian Grand Criterium (ITY-GI) Winner Night Style.
Perhaps signififcantly, Night Shift and The Minstrel's 3/4 brother Nijinsky have combined in Deportivo, a winner of the G2 Flying Five stakes in Ireland at 1000m.
Chop Chop seems to be a very good linebreeding target in the context of Northern Dancer at least (see also the powerful Storm Bird/Nijinsky nick).

Brooke. As far as I know, Laskeek Bay is just starting this year. Put her into your Virtual Stable at equibase .com and you can track her races. Regal Intention is a great old stud. I am most likely sending one of my mares to him next year, just not sure yet which one!

llbean,
No doubt Ruffian was one of the greats. However, the daughter of Reviewer that was my favorite was Drama Critic. Very Honest mare who won 10 of 35 races (28 in the money) in the 70's.
Skimming aside, I wonder if 2x3 is too close to inbreed. We have a few mares and last year got a foal that was inbred 3x3 to Northern Dancer while adding a Mr Prospector line stallion (and an RF 3x3 to Glowing Tribute as well).

Here's another closely inbred one:
"Djournet"....filly by Grindstone out of a Well Decorated mare.
She is 3 x 3 to Drone and Chateaupavia thru the full sisters, Buzz My Bell and Buzzovertomyhouse. The former produced Grindstone, the sire of Djournet while the latter, when bred to Well Decorated, produced the dam of Djournet.
Essentially the 'female side" of this horse's pedigree, top and bottom are the same....only the sirelines differ.
