VIKINGSON --- :42 and change for 4 furlongs?

Postby Jorge » Sun Feb 13, 2011 8:42 pm

DID VIKINGSON EVER CLICKED :42 AND CHANGE FOR 4 FURLONGS DURING A RACE?
WOULD REALLY LIKE TO EXPLORE THIS ANGLE.

What an interesting case and pedigree (that's another story)!

I was there the day he did it at GGF. He also went 43 and change in either the race before or the race after.

His 5th dam is Man O'War's sister Masda...

I would really like to clarify the time he clicked during that race.
Perhaps we can trace that specific race.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Hi Jorge,
There is some info on Vikingson in here, you will have to scroll more than 1/2 way down.....Vikingson will be highlighted in yellow. TJ

Jorge, you didn't believe me did you.. I can still see him today in my mind. A beautiful chestnut with a long tail. He had one of the most fluid strides I have ever seen.

zinn21,

My first reaction was not of disbelief, but rather to query myself
about the fastest evidenced 4 furlongs fractional. Immediately that question prompted me to post a separate thread on that other
very interesting angle, for I didn't want to "spoil" the initial beautiful topic about Vikingson.

Well... perhaps both queries have the same answer, that is, a horse named Vikingson. But if that is not the case I would really like to answer the second question. Both are meritorious queries!

Thanks for pointing that out. I'm always on the lookout for her tail-female descendants (like Stay Thirsty).

It's an interesting pedigree to me because he's got 4 lines of Fair Play from different horses (Masda and Man o' War on the dam side; Chance Play and Mlle Dazie on the sire side). Mlle Dazie also brings in Rock Sand (her damsire). making him inbred to Rock Sand: 7D x 7D x 8S

He has an extra line of Hastings (Nettie Hastings on the dam side) and an extra line of Cinderella (1885) through Macaw.

I wonder if any of his progeny were any good at jumping...

VIKINGSON (Chestnut h 1968) http://www.pedigreequery.com/vikingson

Where can we find additional information on VIKINGSON wild fractionals
during his racing career.

Who is the latest VIKINGSON racing equivalent of the last decade?

Thanks for your participation.
