83% winners from starters

Postby griff » Wed Feb 16, 2011 3:58 pm

my 2011 WVTBA stallion directory came today and i looked up my favorite Mid-Atlantic stallion, LIMIT OUT:

winners/starters 33/40 = 83%

Avg Earnings per Starter $2,855,300/40 = $72,133

Stakes winners per Starter 4/40 = 10%

Stakes horses per starter 7/40 = 18%

AEI = 1.52

CI = 1.14

Fee $2,500 Live Foal [Complimentary to maresreeding in the West Virginia program]

By the way he is not my stallion but I have a dynimite 2009 gelding by him and i'm taking 3 of my 4 mores to him this year.

He looks like a Shetland pony in winter in the photo posted in the pedigree database. (Cute! 8) 8) 8) --and he looks like he's having a good time.) Do you have a link to a better photo?

I don't like that photo either.. When we were looking at stallions his owner pulled 4 or 5 stallion out for our inspection and my wife who knows absolutely nothing about horses fell in love with him.. he is the kind of horse that makes you look at him..

As for where his get are racing--- I belive he stood in KY and NY for a whaile but is in WB now.. The answer is all over..

I point to stallions like Street Cry and pointb out that only about half his get ever get to a track and then only 44% of that half ever win a race.. People come back that his get are racing for higher stakes and I agree soem are.. However, if you had a Street Cry that had 7.0/2/1 record would you stay at the higher lebel or would you try to find a race where he was competive?/

Limit out covered one of my mares this past sunday [one her 8 day foal heat] and another that wasopen on 02/19. I have a 2009 full brother to the 02/19 mares 2012 get that I like very much. have long yearling pictures but don't know how to post them here,, send your email address by PM and i'll send you thos epictures.

On the subject of Street Cry... you also look at the quality of runner. Is the stallion producing state bred claimers or graded stakes runners.

Yep, I agree. Street Cry is producing some very good horses, usually from some very good mares.. And he is also producing some duds; i.e., only 44% of his get to race ever win a race.

And I suspect these duds are out of much better mares than the mares taken to limit out

Also, youmay want to go back and look at the stats on Limit Out get, he does produce some 5k claimer, just as 56% of street cry's get to race never win a race but 10% stakes winner from starters in not bad for a regional stallion getting "regional" ares.

I hae not looked at Strret Cry's AEI and Ci, but again look at the states on Limit Out and you will find that all his get are not $5k claimers
