nice job. I love Motion and I love Mo. Damn they should merge and be M&M..... Pletcher is the only thing that kept me off of UM's band wagon. Just don't like him.

Kind of love that Uncle Mo got beat, mostly because Todd Pletcher's comments in the last week were a little too much to handle.

So much for these light and fluffy campaigns prior to the Derby. Well at least Mo is in good company in that this is the biggest Wood upset since Secretariat.

The Wood fractions set by Uncle Mo are not blazingly fast.

I hope the horse isn't injured--I don't wish that on any man's horse--but if he comes out of this race in good order, I think we have to assume that either 1) he wants no part of 1 1/8 and beyond or 2) he wasn't ready for this race or perhaps both. :shock:

Good call you guys on that winner!!

So far all they have said is that Mo just stopped, the jockey stopped on him as he could tell the horse was done, and at this point he might be a good miler horse, not the length of the Derby. They said that the owner of UM brought about a hundred friends to see his horse WIN the Wood Memorial, what a presumptuous ass, and I hope he is embarrassed.

All the more reason I am excited about my Derby horse, The Factor.
They keep throwing things at him and he pulls away further at the end, not get tired and back up.

If he does not have traffic problems in the Derby, it's THE FACTOR!

Remember that horses do not pick their people.

Some obnoxious people sometimes own some nice horses. The behavior of Foolish Pleasure's people after the match race with Ruffian ("We would have won anyway.") was graceless and tacky, but the horse did not do the talking. So too in the case of Uncle Mo.

Good call Toccet, thanks Zinn, Spex, erhrd and bdw.....but to be honest he was a saver wager which turned out OK. I'm still shocked at Mo's race and expected him no worse than 2nd.....especially when he was beaten by Pletcher's second string horse, Stay Thirsty in the Gotham. I hope Mo won't be next to leave the Derby trail? I give a lot of credit to Graham Motion, the thinking man's trainer:>) TJ

if you had a 1/9 shot in the freaking wood memorial,l you would call up every high school cursh, every teacher, every music instructor you know and invite them as would I. Mike R is a class act and GREAT for horse racing

Uncle Mo did not look like he was traveling all that smoothly up front to me. Any bets that we'll be hearing a report of injury or illness soon?

Good run for Toby's Corner, who is a nice colt with a canny trainer, and methinks very appropriate since he is by Bellamy Road, who ran away with the same race in his year.

Anyone else see Uncle Mo turn his head towards the outside a little after the top of the stretch? Looked surprised and / or distressed.
I dance (yah?) not so much to congratulate myself but because I really like Toby's Corner and dislike Uncle Mo.
I finally have my Derby friend. I have never had a horse I like win the Derby. Last year was Jackson Bend. Sigh. I did pick Super Saver though, and how forgettable he turned out to be, IMHO.

Look at the Wood again when you get a chance
Focus solely on Eddie Castro & Toby's Corner.
Eventful, fearless, heady, confident, game and gutsy are all words that come to mind .

Before I make a judgment about his performance I'd like to see the BSF and PF for the race. It will be interesting to see what the numbers tell us. This race may very well be just what the doctor ordered. He lead most every step of the way and was caught inside the final sixteenth. Track looked kinda deep and no surprise a horse losing first time at a new venue. If he gets the deep conditioning, that will be all he needs.

If he were to race this bunch thirty days from now he trounces em'. I ain't counting this horse out, not for a second. He is still two-year-old Champion and that was his first defeat.

Looking forward to the numbers.
