Yes He's A Pistol

Postby Cree » Wed Jun 01, 2011 11:21 am

I do hope this horse ends up in a nice home once he is done running. 79 starts, 17 wins (!!!), 12 seconds, 12 thirds, with just over $340,000 in earnings.

I remember this big chestnut coming up to Hastings Park for the BC Derby back in 2005. Had a bad trip, I believe he ran 5th. He's now running for cheap (last race was claiming price $3200 at Turf Paradise) but still picking up cheques. A true class act.

YHAP is another sound NFB with an outcross ped & no dupe of Inbreeding.
Congrats to his breeder in breeding a sound NFB superior runner.

Whatever a NFB is. This horse has 21 crosses to Phalaris and descends from Bold Ruler.

It stands for Non-Fashion Bred, and Louis declares the horses he likes as NFB, and those he doesn't as Fashion Bred.

There is no other pattern to it, although Louis insists there is. He cannot pick out a FB/NFB from photographs--he's been presented with dozens of conformation shots of well-known Thoroughbreds from all over the world.

If you have some time, and a lot of patience, visit the Undying Inbreeding and Breakdowns thread which has gone on now for hundreds of pages. I've actually learned a lot there by following links put up to rational studies.

Wow, that is funny. I know he had said my gelding was a NFB, but I just scratched my head and kept on livin'.
I will check out the thread on a rainy day and a cup of coffee. Thanks!

I posted a host of famous TBs, including most of the important sires Louis says are destroying the breed (Native Dancer, Northern Dancer, Bold Ruler, Raise a Native, Buckpasser, Hail to Reason, Storm Cat--and 9 of his sons) but he could not pick them out as being a problem.

He did pick out Goldikova as a fragile Fashion Bred, however... 8)

Bring coffee and something to eat. The thread is absorbing in the manner of an unfolding disaster.

Well, you've got your NFBs, and then you've got your SFBs, too ...
