hi bdw0617...hi karenkarenn
Don't ya think you're pretty darn quick to pull-the-plug...based on such limited info?
Think about it...patience, a stellar constitution, and an ability to digest and evaluate information/situations/circumstances etc etc are among the many ingredients that often benefit those committed to being involved in the world of breeding/raising/training and/or racing thoroughbreds.
Food for thought. The number of foals, yearlings, 2-yos that had/have issues, injuries setbacks of any kind, nature or description, that went/will go on to race successfully, is certainly significant; and I'm not so sure that number isn't greater than the number that didn't have issues/injuries/setbacks of some kind, nature or description.
Oh well...if/when (if you haven't already) you get involved in thoroughbred ownership, with the intention of racing, you may experience a clarity (or a perspective adjustment [if you will]
) unlike before (when you were on the sidelines).
What would you do with her?
Best to you.
Respectfully

Everything depends on her.
Her situation, her time, her body. Ect. Obviously she would be seen by quiet a few vets. And they will give their opinions. But really, its up to her.
Thats the reason why I wouldn't say to the press " that I would be hopefull that she could run." because you just Don't know.
It's still a sad situation.

hi karenkarenn
Your concern and compassion are admirable....no buts about it.
You are correct...no one knows for sure. But this is the world of thoroughbreds, and hopespringseternal
.
That said...I'd like to think that the subject filly is likely to have the brightest and best at her disposal, and will be treated/managed according. Clearly there's much at stake.
The moment she was foaled (WOW...the daughter of Rags to Riches
) she was the beneficiary of an instant level of celebrity status, that she'll carry (and will likely benefit her) for a lifetime.
Is the situation really "sad"?
Best to ya.
