I hope this storm did not affect the area where Madelyn lives. Best wishes for her safety and of all that are under her care and her family.

Terrifying! Madelyn I hope your farm wasn't affected by the tornado! Thinking of you and all the horses that were stabled at Churchill, my prayers are that everyone made it out safely!

Saw a bit about this on our local news this AM. Thankful no reported major injuries at this time. I hope the area is not too badly damaged. It's been a rough year for storms.

I was at CD during the storm last night They had a HBPA Texas Holdum Tournament that started at 6 pm. Walked out into the middle of it. Madelyn's place was safe from that storm but there was another tornado closer to where she lives. I tracked the storm for about 20 minutes after leaving CD. The cards were about 3/4 of a mile from where the barns were hit on the 5th floor. Great view of the storm.

Thanks everyone.. we just got so many more darned limbs down after we had just finished cleaning up. So many big rainstorms this year with big winds.

My farm is in a really hilly section of southeast Jefferson County and while I huff and puff coming up the hill from the creek to the barn area and all, the hills offer great protection from storms. My house and barn are located about 2/3 down a really big hill to Broad Run River. We are actually in the Broad Run River valley. We were without power for a few hours Monday after a storm snapped some power poles east of us where the land all flattens out..

I haven't been to Churchill to see the barns that were hit.. there was a photo in the Lexington Herald-Leader. But it's about time for some new barns back there. It was looking pretty shabby.
So Run for the Roses, as fast as you can.....

Glad to know you and your hubby and horses are fine. Tornadoes are no fun. They don't discriminate either -- one took the front gate off George Steinbrenner's Kinsman Farm near Ocala a few years back, and it was one of those fancy high-end wrought-iron jobs. Literally gone with the wind. Scary stuff.
