A very surprised winner of the prestigeous Melbourne Cup (16-1) in 2007 by half length over Purple Moon in a 21-horse field.
Unexciting racing records had ensued till he won again in Oct 2009, the G1 10f Turnbull Stakes at Flemington. Last Month he
was 9 lengths 10th in the G1 9f Underwood Stakes won by Lion Tamer. This was followed by an 8th in the 2011 edition of
the Turnbull Stakes (5&1/4 lengths to December Draw)
3 career wins

Descarado 59 kg
High Chaparral - Karamea Lady 5 yo
Won his last start in the G1 10f 9-horse field Caulfield Stakes (Yalumba Stakes) by 3/4 lengths. Last year's winner of the G1 12f
Caulfield Cup, beating Shocking, Melbourne Cup winner (2009), to 2&3/4 length 4th. Shocking lifted the Australian Cup in March
this year.

Glass Harmonium
59 kg
Verglas - Spring Symphony 5 yo
Race 7 times and won once in 2011 (4 for career) : 1 1st (G2 11f), 4 2nd, 1 3rd and 1 4th.
He was a short head away 2nd in the Turnbull Stakes to December Draw. Earlier in mid-Septembert he was beaten
to 3&1/2 lengths 4th in the Underwood Stakes.

Jimmy Choux
57.5 kg
Thorn Park - Cierzo 4 yo
Won 6 out of 8 starts this year (4 G1, 2 G3). Winner of his last 2 starts namely the G1 8f Windsor Park Plate and G1 10f Spring
Classic. He won the G1 8f 2000 Guineas last year on heavy going.

Sincero 57.5 kg
Umatilla - Yours As Always 4 yo gelding
First racing season this year. Won 3 out 6 starts with 2 in G1 (7 & 8f) and 1 in G3 (7f). He ran 5th (4 lengths) in the Caulfield Stakes
field. Described as a big, hulking fellow.

Lion Tamer57.5 kg
Storming Home - Lioness 4 yo

completely by Decarado in his most recent start, Caulfield Stakes, by over 8 lengths.

Helmet 49.5 kg
Exceed And Excel - Accessories 3 yo
First racing season in 2011 calender year. 4 wins (G1) out of 6 starts, one as 2 yo. Won both the Caulfield Guineas Prelude (G1, 7f)

Yosei has been excluded from the race...much to the disappointment of her trainer specifically.

Hey Wang, unfortunately the quality of this year's Cox Plate seems to be lacking, but then again after watching the likes of Black Caviar over there and Frankel in Britain maybe I am expecting too much. I was lucky enough to be around to watch the likes of the great Dulcify and of course Kingston Town call the "Valley" their own,in fact on one occasion "The King" won the Plate and the same afternoon the magnificent Manikato won the Moir Stakes to become the first sprinter ever to pass the million dollar mark. Moonee Valley is possibly the best track in the world to watch big races as you are very close to the action and the crowd get right into the atmosphere of the day. Wish I could be there!

Thanks wilf for insights given...Efficient is 8 yo...if he wins he makes Cox Plate history...Rekindled Interest showed a good workout...his last
400 meters in 23.86 seconds..Descarado is reported of having a swelling hind leg...Like to see Avienus in the field...well last two years has
been particularly friendly to the opposite gender where racing is concerned. Helmet carries the lightest, 49.5 kg, but was drawn way wide.

descrado is out for the entire spring per gai waterhouse

i like lion tamer here.

I have a horse for the victoria derby as well who I am really high on

Darley has an unreal string of horses down in Australia that blows what they have here out the water.

Tks for info bdw...Historically, quite a few repeat winners here in this race...males and females alike..The race is rather unique for
the extra 40m...Avienus will appreciate this extra with Descarado pulled out, if her Caulfield form stays. But the booth tells a very
different story... betting fever on her is nonchalant..only has Wall Street going beyond her. At the latest, both Avienus and the
unfancied Playing God are the 2nd least favored.

Helmet is the prime beneficiary of the WFA designation..the ultra light load makes him a heavy duty....no wonder he stands
ante-post shortest...Barrier 11 notwithstanding. Jimmy Choux is 2nd booth choice. Rekindled Interest odds is firming up to 3rd.

Lion Tamer pays higher than Secret Admirer, Glass Hamonium and King's Rose in descending order of favoritism.

No one fancy Efficient...or is the old man actully aiming for the Big Cup II ?

Poor Lion Tamer was put down after crosing the line with a broken leg :

Bowman should have stopped him at 200m mark..not 100m.

Don't know about that, but Pinker Pinker is by a son of Zabeel, so as a 4yo she's following the family trend of getting good as soon as she's older.

The 2005 world racing series champion Vengeance Of Rain (ex Subscribe) is a son of Zabeel...I think both Efficient and
V Of Rain are not truly world class...V Of Rain was the king in a very small empire.
