yes they should all run horses into the ground and constantly spot horses well above their level just so you can have an entry on a big race day and match your 0 for 112 grade 1 losing streak you have going. that's what they should do.

They are all black pots and kettles. Is that why it is called "taking potshots"?
I think at one time, though, every trainer has skirted the rules in some form, whether by ignorance or by design. I will never forget interviewing a trainer to possibly send a horse to, and after telling the trainer that I would not allow steroids to be used on my horse, he told me that he routinely used EQUIPOISE and that was such a great product for getting to the starting gate in a short time.. he was so dumb he didn't even KNOW Equipoise was a steroid..
So Run for the Roses, as fast as you can.....
It is funny he should make these comments....he was not well liked among the top trainers in the sport. The nickname most trainer's used when referring to Lukas was, The Butcher. It was not an occasional name...it was rampant among other horseman when referring to Lukas in conversation. Yet no one ever said it to his face....except possibly Woody Stephens, all including Lukas were well aware of his backstretch monika. Woody almost destroyed his career when he went public and announced his intent to get Winning Colors beat in the 1988 Preakness after she defeated his Forty Niner by a diminishing head in the Derby. He instructed Pat Day to take the lead and carry Winning Colors out into the first turn and to press her all the way. It cost Forty Niner (who was a closer) at the very least a placing in the Preakness and effectively accomplished his goal of beating Winning Colors at all cost. The Preakness took so much out of Winning Colors, she stopped to a walk in the Belmont and Forty Niner skipped the race all together. Forty Niner did come back to redeem himself in the Travers that season, defeating Seeking The Gold by a nose....but many, even those that disliked Lukas, felt Woody was way out of line. TJ

hamazing destiny is the best horse in his barn. he's a legit grade 1 calibur sprinter.Aug27 wrote:Lukas just won the past two races on the Preakness undercard ... at least those entrants were properly spotted, it seems.
he broke his maiden at oaklawn by daylight, i forgot who the trainer was, lukas thought he had his derby horse and bought him for i want to say 1 million.. very talanted just not a route horse.
never heard this. what happened?Never mind his own problems with bad press from insinuations that he breaks them down at a higher rate than most to the alleged cocaine positive in the 80s to the Sanan years.
I mean, there are some good things about DWL. he always brings a kid with him to the winners circle I like that. he is media friendly. my only thing with him is if he would just let horses tell him what they want to do instead of when he sees an inkling of talent in the horse puts every horse on the exact same path come hell or high water. he's a triple crown addict. i'm dead serious. he will get to the triple crown at damn near all costs. horses who everyone int he world knew were dead set sprinters, flying first class, the sprinter that he had last year that won at saratoga as a 2YO, some horses like optimizer have shown they want to do nothing but run on grass, he won't have it.
