Another famous turf race, Arlington Million, a race on the former Emirates World Racing Series Championship program, is coming
up in mid-August.
This is a WFA race as well as a win and you are in event (BC Turf).
Why should not Danedream run this race before the ARC in early Oct or even before defending her title in Grossier Preis Von Baden in Sep ?
German Silvano won the 2001 Arlington Million with 3 lengths over the hard-chasing Hap...and his rider was A suborics.
This year...the field is far from being formed yet...Danedream will still have 3 lbs concession over the oler males in the N Hemishere.
Few names I saw are from Germany : SALTAS, WALDPARK (2011 German Derby winner), TOWER OF ENGLAND, THEO DANON.
Silvano won the 2001 edition :

Only one horse has won twice in this race...the inaugurated 1981 run and again 4 years later in 1984..that fellow is
noneotherthan the "amphibian" John Henry. In 1982, he was out of the race due to injury. Then he was entered for the 1983 edition and finished 2nd.
A few super horses are on this race's hall of fame : Cape Blanco, Gio Ponti, The Tin Man, Sulamani, Awad, Merck, Marlin.

I love the Million!
Last year, we were seated in front a group of folks from the Irish councilate from Chicago. When Cape Blanco won, they screamed and cheered so loudly, I thought I was going to pass out! They were having such a great time and it was fun to be around them!
My favorite memory was the year Gio Ponti won. I love that horse! But, I appreciated him even more when I saw his owner, Shane Ryan grab his head in the winner's circle and plant a big kiss on his muzzle!
I already have my tickets for this year's race. Can't wait!

Heading to Chicago too and can't wait! Fabulous day of racing which I highly recommend if you have the opportunity to attend.
Fun Arlington memory...Going down the elevator with several jockeys who made my 5'11" self feel like a giant. My husband could not figure out why I wasn't talking too him during that elevator ride...I was speechless that Chris McCarron and Julie Crone were standing in front of me

Following is the article on RacingPost :
Little Mike and Boisterous top the U.S. contingent looking to defend its home turf against a well-matched field of international challengers in the Arlington Million Stakes (G1) on Saturday at Arlington Park.
The 11-horse field for the Million includes three millionaires and runners who have notched Grade or Group 1 stakes wins in the U.S., Italy, Ireland, and Canada; the field has combined to win 21 graded or group stakes races.
Little Mike, winner of five of his last seven starts for trainer Dale Romans, defeated a solid field in the Woodford Reserve Turf Classic Stakes (G1) in May at Churchill Downs, his fourth career graded stakes victory and his first outside of Florida. Most recently, the five-year-old Spanish Steps gelding finished third after setting the pace in the Shoemaker Mile Stakes (G1) in June at Betfair Hollywood Park.
Ramon Dominguez will replace regular rider Joe Bravo aboard Little Mike for the Arlington Million. Likely to be a pace factor, the gelding breaks from post four.
Boisterous, a Phipps homebred trained by Shug McGaughey, is seeking his first Grade 1 victory in the Million; the Distorted Humor horse was third in both the 2011 Man o' War Stakes (G1) and the 2012 Woodford Reserve Manhattan Stakes (G1). Boisterous, a multiple graded stakes winner in New York, took the Fort Marcy Stakes (G3) earlier this year. Jose Lezcano has the mount Saturday on the lukewarm 4-to-1 morning-line favorite.
The veteran Rahystrada, set for his third try in the Arlington Million, comes in off of a victory in the local prep, the Arlington Handicap (G3) on July 14, for trainer Byron Hughes. The eight-year-old Rahy gelding, who also won the Arlington Handicap in 2010, finished fourth in the 2010 Arlington Million, and fifth last year.
Willcox Inn can also hope to use his home-court advantage against the strong international contingent. The four-year-old Harlan's Holiday colt has won three of four starts at Arlington for trainer Michael Stidham, including the 2011 American Derby (G2). His only defeat over the course came in last year's Secretariat Stakes (G1).
Treasure Beach (GB), winner of the 2011 Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby (Ire-G1), subsequently made a successful raid on Arlington Park, shipping in to win the Secretariat Stakes (G1). However, the four-year-old Galileo (Ire) colt has not win since, and has now been unplaced in four consecutive outings for trainer Aidan O'Brien.
Crackerjack King (Ire), based in Italy, has won seven of nine career starts for trainer Marco Botti, and his multiple stakes victories include the Premio Presidente d'Repubblica GBI Racing (Ity-G1) two starts back. However, he has been soundly beaten in both his starts outside of Italy, most recently finishing fifth in the Coral Eclipse Stakes (Eng-G1) on July 7 at Sandown Park.
Wigmore Hall (Ire), winless in 2012, will look to make another successful raid on North America. The five-year-old High Chaparral (Ire) gelding, trained by Michael Bell, was a creditable fourth in last year's Arlington Million prior to winning the Northern Dancer Stakes (Can-G1) at Woodbine.
Colombian (Ire) won the Bet365 Gordon Richards Stakes (Eng-G3) in April. Stakes winners Vertiformer, Cherokee Lord, and Afsare (GB) complete the field.
