Dynaformer line may live on!
The Bloodhorse announced that Americain, the Melbourne cup winner is going to stand in KY, as are Dynaformer's sons Brilliant Speed and Point of Entry. There may be hope for this male line in the U.S.
Can't imagine that commercial breeders are going to flock to a pure stayer like Americain, but there's enough speed in the distaff side of his pedigree to suggest that he might get more than plodders. Some miler-type mares packing Danzig and/or Mr. Prospector close up might be just the ticket.

Today I purchased the Dynaformer stallion DRUM MAJOR to stand overseas. He's a Grade 3 SW who ran a mile in 1:33 and change on a fairly regular basis. Yet, he bred only four mares this year in California, which is a good indication of both the lack of commercial interest in this sire line, and the pathetic California breeding industry. He will stand to full books in the future, in a country which races strictly on turf, and hopefully carry on this branch of HAIL TO REASON.
IMO the bad temperaments of the HAIL TO REASON--HALO--ROBERTO sire line have contributed to the seemingly high number of castrations performed on the colts. Considering how long DYNAFORMER was at stud there are pitifully few sons of his which have made it to the stud barn.
I am in pro of bringing him to the US and happy to know
that this kind of stayer will be given a fair chance of success.
But candidly speaking I would really like to read more on the
rationale behind bringing him to Kentucky.
Opinions?
In the Bloodhorse article, it mentioned that the owner had "about thirty" mares of his own that would suit Americain. I realize his offspring may not initially be commercial, but, if they can run, there is still plenty of money to be won on the turf and/or going a distance in the U.S. And the U.S. breed could definitely use a stallion who could become a stamina influence.

Looks like Lentenor is joining Americain in the Calumet stud barn, according to the TrueNicks blog at www.bloodhorse.com. Interesting.
