GREELEYS GALAXY DERBY BOUND

Postby louis finochio » Sun May 01, 2005 6:36 am

The owner of Greeleys Galaxy is going to run his colt Greeleys Galaxy in the Derby.

I have broken down Speed and Stamina ancestors of Greeleys Galaxy below.

Greeleys Galaxy ch. C. 2002
Mr. Greeley---Ascot Starre, by Ascot Knight

Speed

Bold Ruler
Nasrullah

Stamina

Native Dancer 2 times
Nashua
Tim Tam
Hasty Road
Sailor
Nearctic
Triplicate
Djeddah
Northern Dancer
Buntys Flight
The Axe II
Court Martial
Admirals Voyage

Greeleys Galaxy will like the Derby distance and will get tested for his class level, as this is what the Derby is all about. Many fans have their opinion of what TB will win the Derby, but the horses will have the final say on Derby Day.

He has a fair conduit profile for 10 furlongs. Others have better.
4-7-6-3-4 (11/7) (1.24) (17-16-13) (11.20). However, he's peaking at the right time.
Horses that have the most Professional points (right wing) are Afleet Alex, High Fly, Bandini, Coin Silver, and Going Wild, with Flower Alley and Sort It Out, close.

Thanks Bill: I always look forward to the Derby as TB from all over the world come to Ky. to run for the roses.

I like Bellamy Road and Consolidator, but the TB with the most determination, class, condition or super form will prevail on Derby Day.

I can remember the 100th Derby that Cannonade won as I watched the Derby on TV. Its hard to believe that this wil be the 131st. Derby.

It's not up to the owner whether or not Greeley's Galaxy runs in the Derby. He's been saying for several weeks that he hopes the horse draws into the field and that he's willing to pay the 200K to suppliment him if he does.

But because Greeley's Galaxy wasn't originally nominated, he'll only have the opportunity to run if fewer than 20 nominated horses are entered. So at the moment, it's still up in the air whether he'll be running or not.

What profile do you have for Bellamy, Flower Alley, and Coin Silver? Thanks

Its my understanding that B Wayne Hughes does have the final say as Don't Get Mad (also his) can be dropped out of the running to assure Greeley's Galaxy the start. He stated yesterday on ESPN that he really wants to run both horses and, I can think of one that should make way for Don't Get Mad (cough Spanish Chestnut cough). I mean how often do you see someone put a rabbit in a race and it actually help their chances. Anyone remember Loach, Strike the Gold's rabbit in his handicap years?

Jose the foreman for Warren Stute told me Saturday that Greeleys Galaxy is now no. 20 and is going to run. Warren Stute was in Ky. Saturday to make plans for the Derby.
