They've got it all laid out for us...Wise Dan gets Older Male (and HOY) and Little Mike gets Turf Horse.

wise dan horse of the year if he doesn't get it, it will be a travesty.

the only half interesting one in the entire lot is sprinter. I have no clue. I dont' think T'burg will get it. I think shack will get it for sentimental reasons but he's not the best sprinter

My picks for the 2012 eclipse awards are highlighted. TJ

2-Year-Old Male: Shanghai Bobby, Uncaptured, Violence....did nothing wrong.

2-Year-Old Filly: Beholder, Dreaming of Julia, Executiveprivilege...beat the other two when it counted.

3-Year-Old Male: Bodemeister , I'll Have Another, Union Rags...seems like the obvious choice.

3-Year-Old Filly: Believe You Can, My Miss Aurelia, Questing...She ran well against older in the Ladies Classic.

Older Male: Fort Larned, Little Mike, Wise Dan...real big win in the Classic.

Older Female: Groupie Doll, Include Me Out, Royal Delta looks like a no brainer.

Male Sprinter: The Lumber Guy, Shackleford , Trinniberg to me he's a better sprinter than Shackeford and beat The Lumber Guy.

Female Sprinter: Contested, Groupie Doll, Mizdirection...another no brainer.

Male Turf Horse: Little Mike, Point of Entry, Wise Dan...I think Little Mike deserves this slot...but I think the only way they can pass him by for HOY is to give him the turf eclipse.

Female Turf Horse: Marketing Mix, Tapitsfly, Zagora....She beat them when it counted.

Steeplechase Horse: Demonstrative, Divine Fortune, Pierrot Lunaire

Horse of the Year: Fort Larned, I'll Have Another, Wise Dan...beat better horses on the dirt and I think that's where HOY should be decided.

Owner: Godolphin Racing, Midwest Thoroughbreds, Reddam Racing
Breeder: Adena Springs, Darley, Brereton C. Jones
Trainer: Bob Baffert, Todd Pletcher, Dale Romans
Jockey: Javier Castellano, Ramon Dominguez, John Velazquez
Apprentice Jockey: Jose Montano, Irad Ortiz, Jr., Angel Suarez

midwest thoroughbreds are going to win the owner of the year IMHO. they put up stupid stats this year.

Hi bdw,
It's tough to truly decide the eclipse champions this season in most of the categories. With many of the top horses leaving the season early and the politics behind the scenes....even the no brainer's could be in jeopardy?
Anyone else going to post their opinions for all the categories? Would like to see other opinions.TJ

Ok. Here's mine:

2-Year-Old Male: Shanghai Bobby, Uncaptured, Violence....although Violence could be close.

2-Year-Old Filly: Beholder, Dreaming of Julia, Executiveprivilege...slam dunk...nice horse.

3-Year-Old Male: Bodemeister , I'll Have Another, Union Rags...although UR is the better horse.

3-Year-Old Filly: Believe You Can, My Miss Aurelia, Questing...by attrition.

Older Male: Fort Larned, Little Mike, Wise Dan...not a great year.

Older Female: Groupie Doll, Include Me Out, Royal Delta deserving and classy

Male Sprinter: The Lumber Guy, Shackleford , Trinniberg weak year - the filly is more deserving

Female Sprinter: Contested, Groupie Doll, Mizdirection...standout

Male Turf Horse: Little Mike, Point of Entry, Wise Dan...standout

Female Turf Horse: Marketing Mix, Tapitsfly, Zagora....unexciting, but nice to see Proctor get a nod.

Steeplechase Horse: Demonstrative, Divine Fortune, Pierrot Lunaire zzzzz

Horse of the Year: Fort Larned, I'll Have Another, Wise Dan...the best horse.

Owner: Godolphin Racing, Midwest Thoroughbreds, Reddam Racing deserving
Breeder: Adena Springs, Darley, Brereton C. Jones
Trainer: Bob Baffert, Todd Pletcher, Dale Romans
Jockey: Javier Castellano, Ramon Dominguez, John Velazquez
Apprentice Jockey: Jose Montano, Irad Ortiz, Jr., Angel Suarez

2012 Eclipse Awards are in....Wise Dan rakes it in. Read the entire list of winners. Questing was a bit of a surprise....the rest mostly in line with public opinion. TJ

Either the Eclipse awards are a joke or the Breeder Cup World Championship is which one?

Again the Eclipse Awards just make a mockery of either themselves or the breeders Cup.

As all horse can do is run and win races, the Eclipse awards and the clowns who vote in them are a joke, imho thye obviously aren't watching the "Championship" races?

Why so? Who would you have chosen in their respective divisions?

I'll Have Another as HOY would have been an insult to the sport. He was retired in May with an "injury" (he sure didn't look hurt galloping in his field in Japan). He had the best 3-year-old spring campaign.

And, other than Repole pouting about Lasix (and really would his horses have won anything?), pretty much all of the top horses were there.

Is the Breeders Cup classic a race to define the best horse in America?

Either stop calling them championship races or ignore the HOY awards.

It was a bad classic I said before hand this, but to have the HOY duck it makes the HOY a joke.

Wise Dan - stupid connections - stupider Eclipse voters.
