Mylute: Seems he likes distance! How about 10f?

Mylute just arrived a storming second to Revolutionary in the Louisiana Derby. Seems to me he likes some distance, especially over 9 furlongs.
How about 10 furlongs?

No reason he won't get the distance....he came from further back and encountered more trouble then Revolutionary did. Seems like he sifted through his pedigree and took the best of his distance influences with him:>) Only knock (if it matters) is Mylute didn't gallop out after the wire as strongly as Revolutionary. Then again, Revolutionary might have been running off with his rider since he was away from the races for 8 weeks? :>) TJ

The final jumps of this race (Louisiana Derby) left me really wondering which one of the two may ultimately prevail at 10 furlongs.

This because during the last 100 meters of the race I thought Mylute was rushing as the strongest of the two (although he never surpassed him. Am I right?). But then Revolutionary prevailed by not losing any ground.

When we examine their pedigrees it seems that Revolutionry's pedigree is more top-notch than that of Mylute, but then, when I ponder on the apparent fact that Revolutionary managed to save much more ground than Mylute the question that arouses is which one really possess more stamina Revolutionary or Mylute?

Which one do you think may be better at 10 furlongs: the more regally bred one (a common intangible dictum!) or the one recollecting stamina from a bundle of remote ancestors?

No, Mylute never did get by him at any point during or after the race. I would think Revolutionary would be the better of the two going 1 1/4 miles after this last race. Not that Mylute won't get the distance...I just think the quick turn around into the Derby and the speed influences that show in Mylutes pedigree, he may have less stamina base to pull from and bounce back to the mile and a quarter distance as well as Revoulutionary and his families bottom line will afford. Not to mention Revolutionary had a good deal of time off and should be moving forward in his form cycle. Mylute on the other hand, may have just run his best lifetime race while overcoming trouble in giving his all to try to win.....could that effort leave him empty or move him forward? I would pose this question to Bill as I'm sure his conduit mares will shed light on the answer to your question of distance ability. The link to the race is below. TJ

Hmmm, save for leading ORB, it seems like MYLUTE is earning a premium decent reputation as a good purse earner. The Belmont Stakes is their next race.

He is currently a possibility to run in the Belmont Stakes. Amoss seems to be leaning toward passing. TJ

I really felt like MyLute was gaining on Oxbow and itsmyluckyday as they neared the finish. I think he would find the Belmont extra yardage to his liking. Like his Dad, Midnight Lute, he just seems not to be too engaged in the first half or more of the race and then closes nicely....although NOT as nice as his Dad....yet.
