Animal Kingdom beat only two horses at Ascot today in the Queen Anne Stakes. Animal Kingdom was a bit rank early, but found himself floundering about 1/2 way through the race and began to drop back steadily. Had to be confusing and tough on him to run a mile on the straight all the way. TJ

He was on the muscle from paddock to post. Asked to do too many things new all at once. Was the best bet against odds on I've seen in a long while.

He's still a top class individual.

Didn't he run on no meds in Dubai? Serious question as I thought I read that in the articles leading up to today's race.

He got one whiff of the filly in the paddock and dropped his "manhood" for all to see.

After that, he had his mind on breeding, and not racing.

In today's TDN Barry Irwin talks about this. Apparently this is not the first time that Animal Kingdom has displayed his "manhood" while training at Ascot and Newmarket. In the paddock when Irwin watched Animal Kingdom lose his focus on running in favor of female pursuits, he didn't even watch the race live. Irwin considered the race over, with an ugly outcome, right then.

Hmmm, haven't considered it. Seems very logical.
