New Stallions for 2006

OK, I know it is too early, breeding season 2005 isn't over yet, stallion prospects haven't all retired from racing yet. I made a last minute decision to go ahead and breed one of my mares this year that foaled in May and my first several choices were already booked. I'm hoping to get an earlier start for next year. So if you will, please put your thinking cap on and can you name any stallions that will be standing their 1st year in 2006?

Ken Ramsey has said that Kitten's Joy will be standing his first year at stud in 2006.

Its kind of funny you bring up this topic because I was thinking about what stallions might be possibilities for my two fillies next year.

The one's with a stellar (in my opinion) chance at making an impact and being retired for next year are--

Grand Reward
Bandini
Offlee Wild
Eddington (already announced, will be standing at Claiborne)
Pollard's Vision

The one who would be on my wish list to retire and stand here would be Bago. Here's hoping he makes a Breeders' Cup run on the dirt and is successful which would give them the reason to do it!

LSB, where did you hear the Ken Ramsey comment? Did he indicate where the Kitten might stand?

Other horses I can invision retired:
Ghostzapper (Adena Springs)
Saratoga County
Roses in May (in Japan)
And any horse who wins a triple crown race and a lot of the big name 3yos. Last year quite a few of the Derby runners retired before the end of the year (Tapit, Read the Footnotes, Action This Day, Lion Heart, Smarty, Birdstone, Friends Lake, The Cliff's Edge) so I'd look to that race for a starting point. The key ones I predict are:
Bellamy Road (nice body, lots of racing potential and holds Wood record, that's gotta be attractive to farms)
and
Bandini (nice body, big name sire, and having physical issues)

And even though I haven't heard anything about it, I would imagine Rock Hard Ten will be retired this year. He's had a good year and everyone knows how gorgeous he is- you can't keep those ones on the track Saint Liam doesn't have the stellar bod but he does have the attention after the Donn and his valiant fight with Ghostzapper, I predict this will be his final year as well.

Finally, somehow I wouldn't be completely stunned if Lost in the Fog retires early even though his owner likes to run him. He's catching attention with those record runs and he might just become too valuable to race.

He hasn't raced in nearly a year but people still remember how honest he was, the connections will likely retire him while the memory is still fresh. I don't think he'll be strong enough to make it back to the races (a la Candy Ride).

Saratoga County will be standing at Vinery Ky next year. Also which of those do ya'll think will be the most commercial?

Also, let us not forget about the lightly raced, but highly thought of Harlington. He has the looks and the family, he should be cheaper to get to than his half brother Grand Reward. Plus he is off the Unbridled line. Keep an eye on him. Out of the above listed my choices are

Bandini is going to have a lot of 4x4 and closer inbreeding considering he already has every major line, same as Pollard Vision. Bago and Mingun wouldnt stand in the US would they?

Here's hoping Bago does. And the Melnycks will race Harlington next year. At least thats still the plan for now.
