Sabertooth (1998) by the Danzig son, Petersburg x Exit's Baby(1984) by Best Exit, set a NWR for 6.5 furlongs on Sunday in the Fox Sports Northwest Handicap when stopped the clock in 1:13 flat. He was in hand at the finish, winning by 3 3/4 lengths. Four other races were run at the same distance on Sundays card. The times were 1:16.2, 1:16.3, 1:15.3, and 1:16 flat. Sabertooth won the G3 2002 Longacres Mile. Nate Chaves was in the irons. Sabertooth is trained by veteran Northwest horseman, Jim Penny. This horse is a beautiful long striding athlete.

WOW, I saw that horse run yesterday- who could forget that name!DirectTV had a free sports weekend and I got to enjoy a *glorious* day of watching TVG. Was that the same race...? I didn't remember any hype afterwards... maybe I wasn't paying attention?
I watched another race, Maryland My Maryland- did you see that one? Sir Ray totally blew the first corner & went to the outside rail. The jockey didn't pull him up but kept him running on the far outside. He was dead last coming out of the last turn, then the jockey aimed him back towards the pack, he passed everyone & WON!
OK, not as exciting as a world record but exciting nonetheless!

Yes I saw that race. When a horse blows the turn like that they usually just toss in the towel. I have never seen the likes of that in my life. Great run.
Sabertooth was going so easy, I had no idea he was running that fast. Jim Penney is a great conditioner.

Hi
Jim is still hands on, but the family over all is a great team. Kay trained on her own for a while and had success (trained for my friend Murdock MacPherson for one), and of course Bryson is a very good horseman (rode Theologist to a win in the Longacres Mile). They have a fine facility to get the horses ready for the track. He has one of my breeding recommendations, a two-year-old by Snowbound named Sharper Edge, that he is getting ready to run. He shows promise.

Love that name...Sabertooth. Would have made a great name for a Storm Cat. I did a doubletake on the age though, since 1996 would have made him a 9YO. He's actually a 1998 model, right? Nonetheless, still an impressive time for a veteran 7YO.
Is it just my imagination, or does it seem like a lot of NSRs and NTRs have been set in the last year?

So many pedigrees...so little time. (C)

hi bill - all,
dosage does confirme it1
3-7-12-4-6 making di= 1.00 - -0.03
this makes a di % of o
a cd % of - 3.300
Flora is beginning of biology, chemistry is master.
Hi Bill,
Sounds like a great performance. Thanks for the update.
Siegy,
Sabertooth has a dosage profile of 5-5-12-0-0, DI = 2.67 and a CD = .68. This is the dosage profile of a long sprinter to shorter routes, not a sprinter going 1:13 for 6-1/2f.
Sabertooth has mosty routed in his career, perhaps like Artax he's showing his best in sprints.
Regards,
Pete

HI PETE,
STILL CONFUSED, SORRY BUT SABERTOOTH HAS A DOSAGE PROFILE OF
3-7-12-4-6 A DI OF 1.00 AND A CD OF -0.03
PETE I, USE MY ON DOSAGES FROM WAY BACK SORRY FOR THE MISCUP.
I, ONLY USE THE ROMAN FORMULA TO GET THE DI AND CD.
MY DOSAGE IS BASED ON THE % OF INHERANTACE OF 72 FEMALES,
FROMM 1695 TO 1809.
REGARD'S SIEGY,
Flora is beginning of biology, chemistry is master.

REGARD'S SIEGY,
ADDED:
BELLAMY ROAD PER ROMAN DOSAGE = 5-5-8-0-0
BELLAMY ROAD PER TRANSFER MARES = 4-12-4-3-2
WHICH MAKES 2.57 - 0.52 -61 ~ 92
