Is Jes Jackson the little ole wine maker from the napa valley in Calif. that trainer Bruce Headley trains for?

Hi Louis,

Same one who owns Saarland too.

He's collecting stallion prospects I guess.

hi guys

Cause for concern or not? Will the 1/3-interest purchase (by Jess Jackson) in Ghostzapper affect the price of Kendall-Jackson Pinot Noir?

My prediction is Jes Jackson will become another Fredrico Tessio, the way he is purchasing quality bloodstock. Will Ghostzapper become the next Nearco?

Hi FOS,

With the kind of dough Stronach carries around I have a hard time imagining the kind of money Jackson laid out to get 1/3 of his best horse.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news; but it doesn't look good at this point...

Tesio didn't breed to Nearco (or nearly any of the male horses he bred 'cept during the war), as he wanted to start afresh after each Masterpiece.

I wonder if Jackson'll listen to Andy...

You ask "With the kind of dough Stronach carries around I have a hard time imagining the kind of money Jackson laid out to get 1/3 of his best horse."

Let's speculate...does approx $30,000 (plus or minus) per pound for his third of Ghostzapper sound reasonable.

Jackson seems to have an acquired taste for the best...and can obviously afford it. You've heard the expression...'money doesn't grow on trees'...in Jackson's case it seems that money grows on 12,000 acres of California vines.

Thoroughbreds seem to be Jess Jackson's genuine pleasure...is it unreasonable to suggest that he's traded a miniscule profit from some fermented grapes for some of the creme de la creme of today's premier horseflesh.

Hi FOS,

Stronach's too smart to sell this one by weight - he's too slight (perhaps 1000-lbs?).

But I think you're close at $30,000/lb and if they did sell him by weight, you can bet that Stronach stuffed him with something cheap before the weigh-in, like caviar :)

Not any more! All the horses have been moved. El Roblar for example is now in the Mandella barn.

About one month ago, when I was talking to John Bruce Headleys groom he said one of Bruce Headleys owners was at their barn talking in loud tone of voice and was downgrading the Headley operation and some of the TB move to other trainers.

Thats what happened and why they were moved. I will find out if all of Jes Jackson's TB have been moved from Headleys barn.

It's old news Louis. As for the whys, some (but I suspect not all) are touched on by this article:

Is Narvick Int. owned by Emmanuel de Seroux's a quality bloodstock vendor and how many TB in the past have they sold that amounted to a prolific production of superior runners?
