Monarchos/Misty Golddigger?
Thinking ahead to next year. Does anybody like this match? I would have to go see him in person before booking, but the linebreeding looks okay. Photos of the stallion show him to have the body type she likes.
Pete,
Essentially, I like Monarchos for a few reasons. He comes from a pretty strong female family which has produced some sires (Dynaformer, Darby Creek Road), he offers an alternative to the Storm Cat, Mr Prospector tail male lines, he was a talented if inconsistent racehorse (with an obvious thing for Gulfstream), and he's gotten some good early support given his fee. I think he can stretch the mare's distance capabilities (obviously this mare can't get a classic winner, but a miler would be nice). I find him to be attractive, although I've yet to see him in person (that's gonna be a must). He fits the general body type Misty does well with. Some things that kind of put me off about him are he's not from a stallion that is a proven producer of stallions (althought his sire still is quite young), he stands for the same fee as his proven sire (that always bothers me), and most of his acclaim comes from one race were a hotly contested pace basically fell into his lap. That given I think he's a fair value and standing at Claiborne is going to help him alot. He's not maybe my top pick for this mare but offers some interesting linebreeding via Hyperion and Teddy and he was a slower maturing type which this mares foals also look to be.
