Stallion advice for 2006

Postby myheartsezyes » Sat Jun 18, 2005 2:48 pm

Having lost her foal early this year and rebred, it was found she had an infection. (Due to the Stallion) I decided not to breed for the remainder of the season. My mare is Fly with Sunny by Sam's Sunny Hour out of Troy's flying High.
I am really high on the Stallion Alke but just my luck his stallion fee will probably go up. She will be bred to race, (Not a sale Baby) looking to spend up to 4,000.00. She is is Florida so at this point for 2006 I am looking for a Florida Stallion. Any suggestions to help me out?

hi myheartsezyes

I cannot think of one reason why Alke's stud fee would or should go up for 2006.

Regardless...I suggest examining Crow (his broodmare sire) very closely...Beware.

Hmmm, Concerto is interesting. Although he's slightly above your range at $5,000 (assuming that stays the same for 2006 with the acheivements of Belamy Road).

The hypo represents linebreeding to In Reality (3x4), Roughn Tumble (5 x 6x6), Princequillo (6x7x7 x 7x5), as well as War Relic, Man O War, Teddy, Bleinheim, Swynford, Mumtaz Begum, North Star, etc.

Hi Myheart,

I agree with FOS, bothon Alke's fee and Crow.

If you're breeding to race I don't see why you'd go with an untried sire?

Your mare presents a lot of challenges and some potential as well. Certainly I'd look to leverage her female tailto Baby League and her mother La Troienne.

You have a lot of 'archaic' blood in Fly With Sunny, not much Nearco and NO Native Dancer at all.

Zia's recommendation of Concerto is a good one. He's done well and gotten some quality runners. I'd also suggest looking at Double Honor, Colony Light, Sweetsouthernsaint and (especially) Quaker Ridge.

Regards,

Pete
