Angel Dancer in the 6th at Belmont on Monday

Postby monicabee » Sun Oct 09, 2005 12:12 pm

Her first try at open company after going through her statebred conditions with a nice win last time out. I'ts a tough spot, up against good Phipps and Oxley owned fillies whose lowest speed numbers are higher than her best efforts.

Her closing style matches well with Samyn's patience, and a mile is her best distance, so perhaps if the race falls apart she can mop up.

That's great, Monica. She seems to be a valuable member of the stable, tough and consistent. Hope she does well for you.

Good luck

I don't get Belmont on TV anymore, but can listen to the live call through NYRA's site, so I'll be sending good vibes, Monicabee. :D
We're back in tomorrow at Philly with our maiden, Lei Diavalo. She's a dirt horse, but the track was rock hard yesterday, kind of glued together after the heavy rains Friday and Saturday. I hope we don't get a lot more and that the track gets harrowed well.

Thanks all, she ran behind all the way the numbers predicted she would... but she did close past one horse! Play Ballado, a nice horse in the very competent hands of Edgar Prado, had complete control of the race.

She's a tough little filly, with healthy self esteem - hopefully she'll land a softer spot next time.

Good luck tomorrow, Denise. I am sorry I am no longer in the neighborhood to go and watch.

Another runner up finish

Postby Denise » Wed Oct 12, 2005 6:06 am

Wow. Lei Diavalo ran into another hot runner, this time a first time starter who should have been in MSW.
She ran well on a muddy track, the best of the rest. Hopefully, she's progressed enough so we can get her back to state bred in NY.

Denise, second is always encouraging!

Those NY-bred purses are a juicy prize to aim for. Its harder going in the other direction, like Angel, though open company at Aqueduct won't be stacked with future stakes horses, at least.
