Roman Ruler has either a bruise or an abcess in his heel and is out of the Breeders Cup Sprint. Hill N Dale has him listed in their latest ad as retiring this year.

Dang, that Roman Ruler has some weak hooves 
Out most of the early part of this season with hoof problems (and even when he was running, he wasn't really THERE) and now out again. I feel bad for the horse, having to run with a foundation like that.
Note to all breeders: if you want to use him, your mare had better have feet of iron
