Pleasant Home upsets at 30-1

Postby Heidilady » Sat Oct 29, 2005 1:34 pm

Pleasant Home? what the heck? Oh well. Shug horses can't be total shockers I suppose but another Adoration-type winner ugh. Can't a semi-favorite win this thing besides Azeri? Geez.

Society Selection nips Ashado for 2nd. Game finish there.
Ashado 3rd and does this mean she doesn't top Azeri on the earnings? cuz I'll be frank, I was kinda hoping she wouldn't. Nice mare but Azeri-caliber? nah.

I was almost as thrilled with the triumphant charge of Pleasant Home against tough company as I was a few years back with Arazi in the juvenile. She blew them away!

As they said after the race, it was a surprise she was such a longshot, having gotten second in the Spinster in her prep.

Well, I didn't think the Spinster second was very indicitive, considering that it was the slowest Spinster ever run. With that time she should've run like a turtle, not blown them away like she had rockets attached to her behind. Although they did mention that the Spinster track was deep- but deeper than it ever was before in Spinster history?

Seriously, where did this horse come from- and will she maintain this form, or is she the equivalent of Lady Giacomo? Please, Lady, stay...

She had homefield advantage, and great connects with Shug as trainer..when in NY never doubt him.

To me, the shock wasn't that she won, but that she was totally overlooked by the betting public and went off at such long odds.

I love that dam side of non-(Phalaris) Pleasant Colony that gave PH that extra gear in the final lane. Congrats to all for a job well done.

Same here! I figured some of the wiseguys'd get on her, and she'd end up at 10-1 or so. 30-1 made me happy. 8)

Not that she did me any good...I used my 'imaginary bankroll' for playing exactas, and didn't have the second-place horse. Whoops.
