Info. on my special guy

Postby Cherican Farms » Wed Nov 09, 2005 6:19 am

Hi, I am new to the board and also new to OTT TB's. We purchased a very nice gelding in July 2005. I looked up his track record, but not knowing enough about the racing industry, it may as well be written in Greek. Could someone tell me how many races, starts, wins, etc. and if there would be any photo's of him anywhere ? I would very much appreciate it. His name is Compelledtogambol, his dam is Sweet and Fleet and his sire is Compelling Sound. I would also like a bit of info. on his parents if it's not too much trouble. I know "Vegas" did most of his racing at a track in PA. He was in two claimer races. Is there a way to find out why, if there was a reason, that he stopped racing ? Sorry for asking for so much at one time, but I would love to know his background. He is being trained by my daughter to be her Eventing horse, he is awsome and so loving and forgiving, he's a great horse we love him dearly ! Thanks so much

For a very reasonable fee you can get a copy of your horse's racing record from brisnet, incl. the name of his trainer(s) from whom you might be able to find out more about his history. I see he had at least one win. If you know which track, you also may be able to get a copy of the win photo. Sorry, other than the fact that he was a router and she was a hard-knocking sprinter who raced 6 yrs, I don't know much about his sire & dam beyond what's in the db here.

Compelling Sound, at least in 1995 when he started out at Country Life, was a kind, curious, 'pretty' stallion. He was long and racey/angular, rather than thick/sprinter-like - but he was still young. He was brilliant, but had soundness issues.

Here are a couple of shots:

So far, Compelling Sound is perhaps most famous through his daughter, Speak Compelling, who had a "mystery" foal at age 3 in a barn at Philadelphia Park. They never figured out the sire, but allowed the resulting foal to eventually race with the name Amazing Philly.

In looking online for Compelledtogambol's name, I came up with one site that lists a few of his races (not sure if it's accurate). All were Penn National, 2001: 9/13/01, 6 furlongs, no mention of finish position; 9/3/01, 6 furlongs, no mention of finish position; 8/16/01, 6 furlongs, no mention of finish position; 7/26/01, 4th race, 6 furlongs, WINNER!; 7/14/01, 2nd race, no mention of finish position; 6/22/01, 5 furlongs, no mention of finish position; 5/25/01, 6 furlongs, ran third in the first race.

As these listings were on a handicapping site, I'd guess Compelledtogambol was unplaced when his finish position is not noted.

He also ran second in the fourth race on May 17, 2002, Penn National.

Penn National's track photographer, at least, should have a win photo from the 7/26/01 4th race win. Give them a call, and ask them to confirm that really was the date/race, in case the internet site isn't correct.

Sweet and Fleet, assuming she's a daughter of Travelling Music, has at least two foals bred by a Ms. Marcia Wolfe of PA. Perhaps she can help you with information about the mare.

Good luck!
