Does anyone know of this mare e.g., temperment, etc. also maybe a picture of this little lady?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Jeanne at Our Mims Retirement Haven is interested as they are working with 2 of her kids (gelding and mare) and they are a bit difficult.
Thank you.

I don't know of her immediate sire/dam but she does trace to a lot of horses who were known for the difficult behavior (more so than the average breeding TB I mean) like Alleged, Round Table (think he was the one who used to bite himself in the sides?!), the Bold Ruler blood, I think Nijinksy could be a handful. Of course TBs are bred to "fight" so with all those over achievers back there it isn't surprising if some of that is inherited. It is also possible they got their dam's personality (if she is nastym or stubborn)

Hi T,
I would think it *might* have to do with how and where they were raised, as well as who the sires were. Did they come from the same place?
Are you sure you have the correct Lady Barrister? I checked the progeny on the 1987 model on the board, and they have Tom and Roses (G), listed as hers. That is incorrect. His dam was the 1994 Lady Barrister, by HAWKSTER out of an Icecapade mare.
If the latter mare is the dam of those two...I can tell you that Hawkster was a handful and Icecapade was known to throw some ornery, hot-blooded types. I know first hand about both. Man...if that is their blood, they should be able to run like the wind! The mare shows only two foals, so something went wrong somewhere.

Hey all!,
Thanks for all your help.
Hmmm, Tom and Roses is definately by Pistols and Roses.
But now I am all confused. Which Lady Barrister is really his dam? He is listed on the pedigree query as being out of the irish mare.
Anyway, Icecapade would make sense. I have an Iceacapde mare here at Our Mims Retirement Haven. Jamra is a full sister to Clever Trick.
I love her dearly but, oh, she can be quite the handful, too. Just last week she paid a visit to the HDM vet hospital and pretty much showed everyone how much she disliked the fact that she was there.
Thanks again for the help.

That would make her an Icecapade relative then? No wonder "Tom" has that "I'm the King" attitude.
I have two mares with Icecapade as their Grandsire. They are class acts...and yes, they are 15.2hh forces to be reckoned with
I have a special affinity for the Icecapade line. Give your two some time. They will warm up to you. And even though they are not particularly "cuddly" types, it is so much fun (breathtaking at times) to watch their regal ways.
The thing I like about the Icecapade line is how smart they are. Jamra can open and close her stall latch. She not only lets herself out of her stall but puts herself in, closes the door behind her and moves the latch into place.
It took Rosie, that 4 year old mare, exactly two minutes to figure out that if she took a couple of polite steps on the lead rope, there was a treat involved.

Yep...Sounds like you've got yourself some Icecapade blood there alright!
Enjoy!
