hi brooke

Kentucky, $10,000 and under...one stallion that I felt was worthy of consideration was Wild Wonder, but madelyn reported that he died the other night...OUCH.

Montbrook's son Chapel Royal (standing for $10k) will get a huge opportunity at Ashford. If you could handle breeding to a young horse that couldn't win beyond 6 furlongs, and will probably cover 150+- mares, he's probably worth a close look. His offspring might have distance limitations, but at the sales (at least early on) his offspring should attract plenty of pinhookers.

Zavata (by Phone Trick), at Walmac for $7,500 is a grand young individual, has a HUGE set of quarters and is undoubtedly a powerhouse...but Phone Trick as his sire coupled with a race record absent of any wins beyond 6 1/2 furlongs...might suggest obvious limitations. But he is a grand looking horse and I expect he could sire the kind that pinhookers' might swarm over.

Although I've never seen Rocking Trick in the flesh, I believe that madelyn's horse is a genuinely interesting son of Phone Trick. He's out of a Storm Cat daughter and his female family (and race record) seem to suggest that he could get you a two turn horse. He looks like a knockout in his photo (I've never seen him in the flesh), but if you intend to go to the sales...his lack of name recognition (as a result of limited, if any, advertising) might be an obstacle. If the races are your intended destination, he is probably worth a look. Regardless...I'm confident that Madelyn can tell you lots more.

On the other end of the spectrum...if you could handle an older horse...with an attitude...Silver Ghost advertised at $7,500, might be one to consider.

Another older guy that might be worth considering is Jade Hunter at $7,500...he's quiet right now, but has sired a GREAT one in Azeri. Be careful though...he's got some small feet.

If there is nothing in Ky that WOWS you...

...why not consider shipping to Florida...for $10k or under, I suggest that Florida is a place where you can often get a lot of horse for $10k or under...some that will probably be standing in Ky sooner rather than later.

Consider this...two that have moved to Ky relatively recently are Successful Appeal (formerly approx $4k to $6k in Fla)...and Songandaprayer...who was advertised for $10k in Florida, but even then some 'deals' and promotions were offered on him.

There always seems to be at least a couple of young stallions in Florida standing for $10k or less, whose next stop might very well be Ky. Three that I point to with confidence are Omega Code ($7,500)...Full Mandate ($5,000)...Indian Ocean ($4,000).

Best to you.

Repectfully

Rocking Trick

Postby wen8t » Fri Jan 27, 2006 4:36 pm

I have seen Rocking Trick in the flesh and he is a well put together stallion he has a power pack of a body nice shoulder and a nice butt, and very straight legs what more can you ask for . Far as breeding ,American View he is by American Chance , and Phone Trick is already a proven cross , help me if I'm wrong but I think his name is Eye Of The Tiger .

I'm taking advantage of the two-for-one special that Darby Dan Farm has for Vicar and for Matty G. We're booking Hop to It and Shake on It to Vicar. He has intriguing linebreeding to Khaled and Dante for Shake, and Khaled and Northern Dancer for Hop.

Yes, Eye of the Tiger is a G2W by Phone Trick from a American Chance mare so that cross is proven...

Also, another major advantage of Rocking Trick for American View is that sons of Phone Trick have shown a very significant affinity with Bold Ruler (and especially inbreeding to Bold Ruler in a mare such as that exibited by the dam of Greater Good)...
