Bob Lewis dead at 81

The bloodhorse just ran an article about the passing of Bob Lewis at the age of 81 due to heart failure. I was always very impressed with Bob and his wife Beverly. The sport will miss him greatly.

I had the privilege of meeting Mr. Lewis on several occasions, and got to talk to him about our college football team (we're both U of O alums). Always very gracious and unassuming. He will be greatly missed.

That is truly awful and I am sure he will be sorely missed throughout the industry as a whole.

Im going to miss your smile and cheerful positive attidude Bob. I always looked forward to seeing you at Baffert and Lukas barns.

Very sad to hear of his passing. They seemed like such a perfect couple.
They handled their wins and losses with equal aplomb.

To me, Bob Lewis was an example of everything I should be as a businesswoman and a family person. He led with such dazzling example that I was always in complete awe when I was around him or talked to him which was far too infrequently.

I knew his health had been failing but you never quite let yourself believe the inevitable. I named my yearling filly last week and was going to let him know. It was a mild tribute to something he use to say to everyone... "Go With it".

He was as generous of his time and knowledge with me as anyone ever has been. He's made an everlasting impact on me and I can honestly say, all the tributes in the world cant begin to do justice to the man that was Bob Lewis.

Its really awesome that this wonderful gentleman came to dominate post 90's racing with such charm, grace and unassuming generosity. He and the owner of Storm Cat will be greatly missed.
