See, now this thread has me looking at everyone's avatar (something I normally ignore) and trying to see if I recognize them. I knew T showed FuPeg and Jorge has a shot of The White Fox. Derring's shot of Phar Lap is probably the most famous one of that old boy. FOS is cheating .. he just put that shot of Slew up  Pete's got a wicked picture of his cool cat and Lucy's has been driving me nuts since she first put it up.

Trying to think of who else has one and see if I recognize it.

What, you don't recognize Louise Fazenda?

That's okay. No-one else does, either. ;) She was an actress back in the 1920s, did a ton of silents for Keystone Studios...usually as second banana to Mabel Normand, but did more than a few star turns of her own. She had a gift for physical comedy, rather than playing the 'pretty girl' parts, and even did stunt work.

Sadly, her films are very hard to find nowadays....but the few I've seen are hilarious. Even I don't know which film that particular photo is from, but she did play that 'country bumpkin' character several times.

The picture's also a sort of in-joke between my boyfriend & I, as I tend to attract chickens. Don't ask.

Mine is Legal Jousting. I just love the little sprinkling of white hairs he has around his eye.

hi Sam

You wrote re: the avatar..."FOS is cheating .. he just put that shot of Slew up  "

When LSB asked about the avatars, I proudly reinstalled the one I used long ago.

No cheating intended...I had the GREAT Seattle Slew up (as an avatar) long ago...then looked for a better photo. The one I preferred was too large (both pixel and K-wise). I then took the original Slew avatar down. I'll probably remove the current one again...at some point. Still searching.

To my way of thinking, the GREAT Seattle Slew was special and extremely rare in the world of thoroughbred racehorses. Probably a dead-heat with the GREAT Affirmed...WOW!!!

Best to you Sam :D :D :D .

Just teasing, FOS old boy.

If you have a pic you want to use of Slew, I can PM you my real email addy and shrink it down for you if you'd like.

And I do agree, Slew was the consumate thoroughbred. Brilliant racehorse (though, I still don't think he saw any real competition until he was 4yo), sire, broodmare sire. Just wish he'd been a better sire of sires.

K, I can't tell if I just ripped off someone's avatar or if I just saw this that many times on websites. It just seems like I know it from somewhere.

Does this look familiar to anybody? I wanna be different and I really like Charismatic but if it's the same as another person's I'll change.

I'd say you've just seen it everywhere since that day. I don't think I've seen anyone here with it.

Mine is usually one of Out of the Will, a 2000 daughter of Will's Way. I usually switch between it one of Easy Goer before the Belmont, one after the Belmont and Halo King Prawn(aka Emporia Hill) a grandson of Easy Goer by way of his daughter Emporium sired by Danehill. The one there now is Premium Thunder by Easy Goer x Seattle Dawn.

8) This thread inspired me to make myself one. Mine's kinda obvious. Now that I know how to make them, I'll probably change them like I change shoes. If I'm going to get busted for copyright infringement, please someone let me know!

I always wonder who they are too. And for some of them I still don't know... :?
