Thank you all so much!! I have a very limited history on her. She was aquired by a QH breeder in WI/MN. I'm not sure how/why, or how long she owned her before I got her. She's been primarily a broodmare, with occasional trail rides, to further this breeder's Western Pleasure/Rodeo goals. This breeder then gave her to a mutual friend, in exchange for boarding her QHs. I acquired her, bred, for my husband to trail ride.
That foal was born last Spring. The filly looked like a miniature version of her. However, she had a rhy (pronounced "rye") nose, and died a few days later. Our friends have had two schools of thought on what caused this (they're still VERY divided in their thinking): 1) a late West Nile vaccine; 2) she was actually bred to her own son. I don't know which it was, but I know it won't happen again.
She has proven to be too much for my husband to handle. So I take her out occasionally for trail rides. She doesn't seem to care much for it, but she gives everything when we're out.
I guess my next question would have to be.....Do breeders split their fees??? I realize this would vary from breeder to breeder, but is this actually done??? My budget IS small, and I'd really hate to waste what you've called an "interesting" pedigree. As I've said before, I'm COMPLETELY in the dark when it comes to the racing/Thoroughbred world.
Thank you again for all your help!! I will certainly let you know where she goes from here.
