Call your cable company and beg for TVG.

Do you just gotta ask real sweetly and you can get it put on there for some $$$ or do enough other people need to beg 'for the love of God pleeeeeease give us TVG' before they make it available? What's it cost to add it? If I could get it, I might honestly tear up. Ok maybe not tear up but I'd definitely get the giggles due to all the excitement.

I have it as part of the Sports Pak option with my digital cable service. It's an extra $10/mo = $5 for the cable box, $5 for the channel package. They carry the races when they're preempted on ESPN, network, etc., and then always rerun them later. As much as I appreciate TVG, if the NTRA thinks that broadcasting racing on channels that are not part of basic service is good TV coverage of the sport, they're delusional.

TVG is now part of the basic service where I live (I have the cheapest digital package).

I couldn't get it when it first got added to my cable system.....I'd been planning on calling and asking to pay for it separately (kept putting it off), but I clicked on the channel by accident the other day, and lo and behold, there it was.

I don't believe its an option on ANY of the Time Warner Cable packages. I've looked. Believe me, if Time Warner offered it I would have it already- and that "ESPN" channel be damned

I notice that in the hotels in Kentucky you can get TVG off the cable TV- it's damn near my favorite part of the trips, period!!! I envy you, Kentucky people, for being so lucky!

I remember when they first went on the air. It wasn't carried by my cable company but FSN was and they generally have 2-3 hours on FSN each night. I called up the cable company and went "Look, I don't want a sales pitch, I don't care to hear all that I can get by upgrading my service. I've got 68 channels NOW that I barely watch. I just want this ONE channel for the horse racing programs and I just want to know what it would cost to ad that ONE channel."

There was a 10 second pause and I heard "$3.50." Another 5 second pause and got a very meek "Ma'am .. for $1.50 more, it's actually part of our 5 channel sports package including OLN which has a lot of horse programs on it as well?"

I started laughing and managed to squeak out that it was okay, do the whole thing.

LOL, talk about a humbling experience. That person's first reaction was probably along the lines of 'oh no, one of those customers....Mom told me I shouldn't work for the cable company but did I listen? Nooooo.'

I think I need one of these TVG packages...I just finished watching the news after Grey's Anatomy and got surprised by some singing televangelist doing interpretative dance...This is so weird. Must--change--channel--but--nothing--on... (tongue in cheek cuz this is silly but it's catchy so I gotta share) It doesn't work for the Oscars, why do they think it will work for the "unwashed"?

PS. Edited: I CAN'T WIN! I changed it to what I thought was Mind of Mencia on Comedy Central and got hit with the view of some girl's butt in a thong while being groped by another girl on a Girl's Gone Wild ad. Waaaaaaaaa. Was this a way of punishing me? Making me look at the cellulite on some horny teenagers?

Be thankful you aren't here. You do NOT watch commercial TV in Vegas after 8pm. Hell, even some of the commercials they show during daytime hours are this side of softcore porn.

There's a bumper repair place here that thinks they only way they can get business is to have some blond airhead with a double dose of breast augmentation in a lowcut purple shirt with a rhinestone X in the valley lay those things ON the bumper and pout "What am I going to do? Do I need a whole new bumper" End of the commercial is her sucking in her breath, sticking those things out as far as she can get them and going "Thanks Bumperman".

Oh no, it's not loaded with subtext. I'm just reading too much into it.

Right now I'm just trying to figure out why Janet's breast with a pasty is offensive, but it's perfectly acceptable for me to have to sit through a thousand Viagra/Cialis ads every hour.

Of course sometimes karma has a way of helpin' the gals out...just imagine watching an episode of Rome on HBO and suddenly there is James Purefoy full frontal, and then I truly truly appreciate getting digital cable and go on my rant of 'why don't we have TiVo again? can someone remind me?

It comes back to you eventually. Just hold on Sam.

Of course there's always the inexplicable Baffert blue jeans commercial with a close in on a bullseye of his pants crotch. I never did figure that one out. I mean either Bob's got a reputation I didn't know about or they didn't mean for it to be that dirty.

Ok this is just mean. I apologize in advance for the migraine I'm about to give you. Ladies and gents I give you the Bloodhorse.com/tvguide.com/ESPN.com schedule for Saturday tv horse racing programming:

April 8

***Wood Memorial, Aqueduct 4:00 p.m. ABC (add Illinois Derby per tvguide.com) ...60 minutes for this part (huh? and then another 60 minute slot? apparently it's news to ABC but I'll explain that later)

***Bay Shore Stakes, Aqueduct 5:00 p.m. ABC (also the Carter allegedly but not sure what time), tvguide.com however does not have the 5pm stuff down for ABC at all...having fun yet?) This is is just was ESPN.com had in addition to the Wood and Bay Shore...

**Santa Anita Derby, Santa Anita Park 5:00 p.m. NBC (2 hrs long per tvguide.com but alas, more chaos to come). According to tvguide.com they're only doing from 5-6pm. I'm so confused!!!! The news is on at 6pm on NBC. I really would just die if they could be accurate with this scheduling crap for once.

Ok so they claim it's paid programming on ABC at 5pm so I just don't get it. These guys are moronic sacks of green monkey feces (directing that to the tv scheduling folks. Clearly they're stupid). Maybe if they're lucky, their namesake will start on televised coverage in May. In theory, we're looking at, and don't hold me to this, 4-5pm ABC (Wood, Illinois, Carter, Bay Shore then?--edit: abc.com confirms 4-5 and all but Illinois so who knows) and 5-6pm NBC (Santa Anita Derby and heaven help us whatever else might be going on--their nbc.com schedule confirms nothing). Tada! Here, take some aspirin and go lie down.

Ugh I have a nagging feeling in the pit of my stomach that the soccer game's going to run long. They always do, just like baseball and tennis and hockey. Anybody else feelin' it? Please please please for once in our lives end the game early.

It's a springtime miracle.
