I think Louis might find this article of particular interest. http://www.chef-de-race.com/articles/p-np_myth.htm

The reason their was a sharp decline of GSW after 1987 of NP is because the NP sire line was disapearing as those NP BMS didnt reproduce themselves.

Thirty years ago the NP stallions and BMS were king of the jungle, but as fast as they rose to the top their descent was even faster.

Ninety % of the mares today are from the Phalaris sire line, and ninety % of the stallions are from the Phalaris sire line.

To compare the stats of NP and Phalaris in todays time frame is a no brainer, as any student of pedigrees will agree with the one sided advantage of the Phalaris domination.
Those without sin cast the first stone.

The TB current soundness has taken a big hit, as the Phalaris revolution is responsible for this decline in soundness.

When those NP sire line are crossed with the 8-12 crosses of Phalaris, the offspring of these matings will make many more lifetime starts than those matings of Phalaris & Phalaris, as those matings of 3 X 3 to Storm Cat, and Mr. P. produce spindle legs and early breakdowns.
Those without sin cast the first stone.
