Louis - Sacred Light

Postby SoLongCharley » Sun Apr 09, 2006 6:33 pm

Hi Louis - I was there to watch Brother Derek win The Derby yesterday - what a thrill! I was really rooting for him, he's really a terrific horse, and I was so happy for his trainer Dan Hendricks & Alex Solis, too.
But it was very scary, watching the beautiful grey, Sacred Light go down on his nose when he broke from the gate! Can you find out if he's ok? I haven't heard anything, so I'm hoping he came out of it alright. Such a good horse! I'll be hoping for the best.

Thanks Louis!

Hi SLC: Who is the trainer of Sacred Light? I will find the answer you seek.

The day after SA Derby notes. BD came out of the Derby in good condition, and was playful in his stall.

Sacred Light was not injured after he stumbled at the break.

AP Warrior was very tired after he cooled out ok.

This is a sample of what the fans of TB racing want to hear the day after the Derby. Its called marketing or PR.

Wow! That was fast, Louis - thanks! Glad to hear he wasn't injured. Thanks too, for the info on Brother Derek & Ap Warrior. Sacred Light's trainer is a David E. Hofmans. I've never heard of him. Hope this helps.

David Hoffmans is stabled at HP, as he likes to train his TB on that track.

DH is a class person and from the old school of trainers. When you like one of his TB place your bet and you will go to the windows to collect.

Thanks again, Louis. I'm so new to all this, and always wanting to learn all I can about the people connected with the horses and racing. Doesn't Jack Van Berg also work out of Hollywood Park?

Jack Van Berg is over here near Louisville at High Point Training Center. I believe he also still has a small training place in Skylight KY. If it's the same Jack Van Berg....

I'm thinking of the JVB who trained Alysheba. My friend in Philly bought a horse from him, when they were out here last year, for the Eclipse Awards. Pretty sure his barn was at Hwd Park.

Hi SoLongCharley,

Sacred Light nearly pitched over frontwards. As bad a stumble as it could be without the horse falling.

To Sacred Light's credit he gave it a try but he lost a lot at the start.

Regards,

Pete
