What is it with you folks that you are so intent on being so heinously awful to this kid? He just wants to know the filly's parentage to get her into the performance horse registries and the only mention made of Afleet Alex was made by people being snotty, he responded like a kid with a dream would, so who are you spit on somebody that young's dream. Gainesway is not going to let her in the book anyway, so its kind of a mute point.

Sorry to butt in, but I've been lurking through this thread and I just had to agree with Austique. For cryin' out loud, don't crush this kid's dreams! He's the future! The worst thing that happens to adults is we get our dreams crushed as we grow up and think we have to do it to the next generation. We wonder why some people have no vision. We complain about losing our fan base and wonder how it happens. "Hello!!! McFly???? Anybody in there?"

At least some people can still think outside the box. I love the ideas about getting him some publicity to help him solve his mystery.

Personally, I hope she's who he thinks she might be. Linda in TX seems to know her breeding stuff and I'm not so young that I don't remember that family in its hey day. Reliable, tough, honest racehorses. The world could use more of them and maybe this filly could produce one. Maybe not, but at least she comes to the table with more credentials than a lot of mares I see in catalogs these days.

Guys I would love to run a Article but not with AfleetAlex#1fan`s filly stuff mabey a diffrent title I hope.How much money would this be to have an Article ran???Oh and who ever ran the article would have to be honest its not suppose to be about us in this post its suppose to be the mestery of my Filly and I love this Article idea im ready for it I just need a price if I need to pay for it and see if I can.I probly cant as money is tight for me and my family right now as im 13 almost 14 on may 11th I will be 14

Running the article would be free. You would essentially need someone to type it up as a human interest story and then send it out to industry publications such as the Bloodhorse and Thoroughbred Times and hope that they take an interest in your story and run it in their magazine.

Simply put, people didn't register the filly for a reason. Why spend that money if they didn't think she was worth it?

Jordan, enjoy her as a saddle horse and a fun learning experience. It's no small coincidence I just got a $723 vet bill today for my little Abstract foal. That's breeding, and believe me, I am still dreaming! So do take that into consideration if you ever do decide you want to breed her.

So can we assume the whole story about the dam going to the killer sale and being unknown was merely to cover up that this was an inferior foal which might hurt the value of the stallion? I'm kind of gunshy on somebody who would sell an unbroke 3yo to a kid, but I am admitting I may be jumping to conclusions, so feel free to correct my misconceptions.

Don't know how long ago the page was updated, but am guessing if it was before 1/1/06 there's a good chance that this is the filly Jordan bought:

Yeah, the main question in my mind is whether she's been reported "sold without papers". I'm guessing that it was CCR that offered to help Jordan w/ the paperwork, which suggests they were selling her w/out papers 'cause they couldn't get them from the original breeder, who if he/she/it did actually send Pie Rise to the killer, doesn't strike me as the type to take care of that detail. (You know before any industry publication is going to print a story about this, they'll want the same answers we've been seeking for ~8 msg. board pages now.)

That's an interesting point, and consistent with your earlier statement "she shouldn't be bred."

Yesterday, I received a PM from someone who also knows "Abstract's current owner." The writer of the PM expressed a similar point of view: (Abstract's current owner) "had no intention of this filly becoming anything but a pet."

Now, what is so wrong with her she wasn't worth the two hundred bucks to register her...? And if she's as defective as you're suggesting (not worth the lowly sum of two hundred bucks to register), then why was she dumped on an innocent youngster...?

You may well be right. I'm hoping the poster is simply making an assumption based on the fact that she was advt. w/ no papers.

This will be my last post on the subject. I can't believe the Derby is in a week and this is what we're all talking about...8 pages of it!

The ad for the filly on the website says clearly she's a sporthorse prospect. I don't think there's anything "defective" about her. I am sure MichaelThomson feels the same way. There could be any reason she wasn't registered. Clearly, "broodmare prospect" was not the seller's intention. Probably because in OREGON, where this filly is, people would think an unraced Abstract filly as a broodmare is a rediculous notion. "Old lines" and "her dam's a half sister to so and so" and all that other pedigree-speak be darned. She's still unraced and by a simple Oregon sire. Further, "6 winners out of 6 starters" doesn't mean much if you're talking maiden claiming $2,500 at the Tillamook Fair. If others are high on it, well, I'll start breeding more Abstracts if you start Pay-Pal'ing me.

If anyone wants an Abstract filly, they can go to the sale and buy a healthy, registered Abstract for a very reasonable sum. I sold my last Abstract at sale (2004) for $1000. That's not abnormal, and he was a good looking baby (out of a Red Ransom mare). The market hasn't been kind to Abstract, with the influx of many new nice stallions to the state, and stallion managers making nice considerations for the better mares.

The owner of CCR is a very, very nice person, I am sure Jordan is a nice kid, and we're all nice people here. For the record. Everybody's cool.

Now, I am picking up my ball and going home, because I am just too tired to keep this up. But Jordan is welcome to e-mail me any time for help or suggestions, I am sure we don't live that far apart. Now I am going to go find some Sinister Minister threads or something.
