Lawyer Ron soon to be sold

Postby Heidilady » Tue May 02, 2006 2:53 pm

No dirt on who it is but just caught this from DRF:

http://www.drf.com/news/article/74126.html

Anybody heard anything? They'll probably keep it mum til details get worked out but it'd be fun to have some idea. Oh well, just took me by surprise so I thought I'd share the news. Interesting that it's so close to the race.

Awww...I kind of hoped they would at least keep him through the Triple Crown. Who wants to bet Darley or Coolmore is on the other end of this deal?

Interesting. Somewhat disappointing. Wish I had buckets of money so I could bid on him. I've watched his workouts on TVG. He is very nice. Everybody on the TVG panel likes him along with Brother Derek. Both will go off at a short price. I've got to put my money where profit is more of an option.

It was announced today that Stonewall bought the majority interest.
They're putting a lot of faith (and money) into these young guns of theirs. Insiders say price was in the $6 million range.

I suppose if he were to blow up and take the world by storm the rest of the year and become the next uber-hoss they could either stand him for some ungodly fee or resell for even more money.

The real Lawyer Ron did the Hines Estate a great service by making the the deal for the horse Lawyer Ron. It will be interesting to see what history makes of the deal.

Just proves my belief... if someone is standing in front of you with a checkbook and a pen, and they have filled in the numbers, you spell your name so they don't get it wrong in the "Pay to the Order of"

He wasn't even there.

Oh dear.

Who wants to bet that he never races again after this one?

Oh they've already said they are going to the Preakness. I really like him, but $6 million for a son of Langfuhr out of a mare that couldn't even bring upset bid is a biiiig gamble and was only going to pay off if he won yesterday, but these are the folks bringing you Value Plus for $10,000.

Lawyer Ron is a nice, hard knocking horse, but I think he showed yesterday he may be a step below the big boys

austique: I for one believe he is still a quality horse. I don't know whether you noticed but it appeared to me that just before the 1/4 pole, POINT DETERMINED (I think) was lugging in on LAWYER RON rather heavily. Enough so that he may have been impended. That went on for over furlong and it appeared just after that LR gave up the ghost and faded. If you get a chance, look at the aerial replay. You can definitely see it.

Shammy,

John Mckee said he was sitting on some horse moving down the backstretch, but the horse gave him nothing up the stretch. He made no excuses for the horse and I think his comments are telling.
